4/9/07 - Just over one year post op. Went in for an appointment today, thinking that I need a fill. I am able to eat a bit more than I had been. Still no issues with nausea/vomitting/sliming. Lost 5 pounds in a month - a bit disappointed. My surgeon is out on maternity leave, so I saw one of her colleagues. He thought that we should check on the saline in my band and go from there. It took 2 tries to access my port - very weird feeling. My initial fill was 4ccs, and he could only get 2 ccs back. So he proceeded to give me a fill to (I think) 3ccs. Back to liquids.

It's funny how people have no boundaries. People at work have been telling me I am getting "too thin". I am still obese by BMI, and want to lose another 40 pounds. It is a surreal feeling, as for most of my life I was the biggest one in the room... Take care everyone!

3/12/07 - I need to be better at updating... Went in for a followup appt today. Met with the PA (the one that I like) as my surgeon is out on maternity leave. 8 pound loss in 4 weeks to bring me down to (drum roll, please) 196.5. I don't remember the last time I weighed anything in the 100's. Actually, I only have one memory of weighing 130 in the 5th grade and going to Weight Watchers. Feeling great, excercising 5 days per week. Entertained a running program, but it was too boring! Take care.

1/19/07 - Long time since I posted. I have been feeling well, exercise is now a daily part of my routine. I had a followup appt with my surgeon today. Down to 210, an 8 pound loss in 5 weeks. One part of my brain says that my weight loss is slowing down, but then I remember that I didn't necessarily make the best decisions over the holidays. I am feeling like a bit of a freak, cuz I am still riding out the same fill from May, but we shall see how long that lasts. My next appt will be in 3 weeks, as my surgeon will then be out on maternity leave. Good luck to all!

10/16/06 - Monthly appointment with my surgeon. Initially a bit disappointed with a 7 pound weight loss - I wanted more, but I gave myself an attititude adjustment and embrace every pound lost. Now to 242!

9/15/06 - Monthly followup appt with my surgeon. Feeling great, down to 249. Was again offered a fill, but I don't want to mess with success. My committment to exercise could be better, I need to work on that. Take care!!

8/18/06 - Followup appointment today to see if I need another fill. I am still feeling awesome! No food intolerances, no nausea. I was down 12.5 pounds in 4 weeks. Weight = 260.5. My surgeon did offer me a fill, although I declined. I feel like I entered into this surgery to lose 1-2 pounds per week. I am losing more than this and I don't want to mess with a good thing! I also was measured (height that is), and I have grown an inch??? I always thought I was 5-6, was measured at 5-5 at my consult, and I am now back to 5-6. I will take it! Take care!
I am down 100 pounds since beginning my journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/21/06 - Appointment today for my third fill. Still feeling great. I thought that I felt great before my banding, but I am beginning to realize how tired I really was. I feel like I am able to eat a bit more than I should be able to, but still much less than before banding. I am sometimes struggling with food choices, I need to work on keeping the fat down in my diet. However, I lost 10 pounds this past month, to a grand total of 88.6 since January, 49 since surgery in April. Weight = 273. I was surprised that my surgeon offered me a fill, even with the weight loss. I declined the fill - perhaps I am a fill chicken! But my weight loss is above average, and i don't want to mess with what is working. My short term goal of 261 by 10/6 is more than attainable!

6/23/06 - Appointment today for my second fill. Have been feeling great. Doing well with bandster eating, lacking on exercise - will work on that. I do feel a difference when I have been exercising. Weight- 283. Surgeon was very pleased, no fill for me! While waiting for the surgeon to come see me I had some mixed emotions about not getting a fill. I had a mental adjustment - I don't want to be so full that I am worried about PBing and sliming. My level of restriction is just fine for now and I am losing with very little effort on my part. Total Loss - 78 pounds, 39 since surgery. I have went down quite a few clothing sizes. I feel great. Go for another visit in 4 weeks. Getting close to my first short term goal of 261 by October. I think I will make it!

5/22/06 - Went in for my first fill today. Weight - 298. That brings me to a total loss of 63 pounds, 24 since surgery... My BMI is no longer "super obese", I am "morbidly obese". It took two tries to access my port. It did not hurt, but was uncomfortable (the PA left the needle in while waiting for the surgeon). I am doing well with eating, I was fortunate to have some restriction just with the surgery. I will go in for another fill in 4 weeks.
Take care!

4/12/06 - One week post op. Feeling well, although I do tire more easily than before the surgery (what do I expect). Struggling to get the 5 protein shakes in that are recommended by my doctor. I am lucky to get 3 in per day. Very minimal pain, although some soreness. No pain meds since Saturday. Followup appt with the surgeon on Monday!

Take care!Home and doing well 4/6/06... Some pain around port site, but otherwise just feel like I did a million situps. Will be on full liquids for 2 weeks.
