May 25th

May 25, 2011

I stopped going to MWLC and switched my primary care physician. She was a demon and not supportive of anything. My journey for WLS was the final straw for me to switch. I met with my new PCP on May 6th and he was so great. I kept thinking "ohhhh THIS is what its like!"! Unfortunatly that meant that I had to start my 6 month supervised weight loss plan over. I am almost one month in with my new doctor. I meet again with him on June 9th to weight-in, talk about  my diet, etc.

I went to Hurley Bariatric Center on May 5th for my senimar. I am so glad that I went right away because it re-enforced my decision for WLS. It was very informative and I would highly recommend anyone interested to go....plus its free!

Lastly, I am starting to feel really uncomfortable in my skin now that summer is rolling in pretty quick. I had to buy new summer work clothes because I didnt fit in anything :(. My friends remind me that this is the last summer that I will have to deal with this. I also couldnt fit my foot in a pair of my old heels when I tried to go out the other night..............not jeans......not a top.....effing shoes!!. My feet have gotten crazy fat. If thats not depressing, I dont knwo what is!

5 more months!!!!!!

I am one week into my physician supervised weight loss program. I decided to go through the Medical Weight Loss Clinic in Lansing. They have a physician on site that I can meet with and it is NOWHERE NEAR the cost of the Sparrow bariatric center. Ive also been through a weight loss program with MWLC before so I didnt have to pay any of the starting costs.

At first I started to go back and forth with the idea of WLS, mostly because the thought of having to wait about 7 months before I can have it done makes me nausous. Once you make the decision to change your life, you dont want to wait any longer to make that change for the rest of your life. I know im being impatient, but it seems so far away!

I was recently in an auto accident. I walked away with a very sore back, neck, shoulders and few small cuts on my hands. But they way the accident happened, I probably shouldnt be here today. I totaled my car, but luckily there is a state auction this Saturday near my house, so hopefully I can get something reasonably priced.

I also wanted to express how sad I felt today going into a store. I went into Dress Barn to find a dress for a wedding that Im going to in May. They have a "Womens (plus)" and "Misses(regular)". I went to the plus size section and couldnt find anything that I liked. I looked on the misses side and they literally had 4 times the amount of designs. I couldnt believe it! I kept thinking "gosh they should make that in plus size.......Id definitly buy that if they had it in plus size". Its as though plus size women should just wear what they can fit in and deal with it. No selection. Needless to say, I miss the days that I really enjoyed shopping. I HATE it now. Its emotional, depressing, exhausting and expensive. Plus size never goes on sale lol.
Its more then a chore. At least the end of my chore, like vacuuming I can enjoy the cleanliness and organization. Even if I find something to buy, Im settling because theres nothing to choose from so I just like "eh that'll do...plus I just want to go home". Hope this will all change after surgery!

5 months and 3 weeks left of my weight loss plan!

Introduction

Apr 07, 2011

4/7/2011

Through much discussion with friends, family and my doctor, I have decided to pursue weight loss surgery. The biggest reason that I wanted to do this was because In the past 5 years, most if not all of my illnesses are directly related to my weight. It has gotten to the point where even if I use the elliptical machine (a low impact machine) my knees hurt so bad I can barely walk up the stairs. I wanted to start this blog to track my journey and all the ups and downs of the WLS. I want to list some of the symptoms that I am currently having to also see if any of them go away after the surgery:

-Depression (currently taking medication for this)
-Severe knee pain
-high blood pressure (when I lay down my hear is beating so hard that I have to catch my breathe)
-high cholesteral
-"dumping" syndrome
-Sweating
-Out of breathe when I bend over

Next Monday (4/11/11) I have my orientation with the Sparrow bariatric center to begin my 6 month weight loss program. As part of the process for my insurance (Blue Care Network, HMO, Michigan) I have to complete this along with a psychiartric evaluation and they will then make my patient referral for surgery.
