I have lost 100 pounds!!!

Oct 22, 2011

I used to say to myself, if I could just lose 100 pounds I'd have a completely different life and the "real me" would be revealed...well, as of today it's true!  11 1/2 months ago I had a hard time believing it was even possible, but here I am.  I feel great, my health is amazing, my blood pressure and resting pulse are like that of a pro athlete, I wear a smaller size clothing than I did even in high school, and I feel 15 years younger...and I'm pretty damn proud of myself.  :)

Major Stall @ 193 lbs

Jul 13, 2011

So I've been at 193-195 since June 7th.  Now I am not trying to say I am not completely responsible, as I have not been as good about what I put in my mouth as I should be nor have I started working out yet.  But I need to get remotivated and back on track and finish what I started last November with this awesome surgery.

So words of encouragement would be very much appreciated!!  :)

4 months out-checking in

Mar 12, 2011

Hi everyone!

I haven't been on much lately as I'm working about 70 hours a week between my two jobs...but got a nice surprise today when I jumped on the scale-213 pounds!  That makes a total loss since qualifiying for surgery last Sept. of 67 pounds.  I also was able to wear a pair of size 14 Levi's yesterday that I had bought YEARS ago and had hanging in my closet with the tags still on as "inspiration" to lose weight...and they looked GOOD!!!!!

Can we take a minute to discuss hair loss?  Mine is getting rediculous...what is working for any of you as far as slowing/stopping/reversing the hair loss?  Appreciate any feedback!!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

11 weeks out today-lost 2 more pounds!

Jan 23, 2011

Scale hasn't moved much the last two weeks but my size 16 jeans have been getting looser...looser...looser...

This morning's weight?  226 pounds!  So close to my first mini-goal of 225!!!

That makes 54 pounds lost since qualifying for surgery at 280 and 48 pounds lost since day of surgery 274!!  Pounds I will never see on my body again!!!

I hope everyone has a great week!

8 Weeks

Jan 03, 2011

So 8 weeks ago today I was in surgery right about now, getting the tool to help me get to a healthy weight to live the rest of my life at.  I am amazed at how much better I feel after 8 weeks and getting rid of 48 pounds forever!!

For the first time in as long as I can remember, my clothes aren't skin tight, I don't have marks and welts on my skin from being squished into the too tight waistbands of jeans or from my bras, and I am on the verge of dropping to a size 14 which I haven't worn since college!

I have started exercising which is definately making a difference.  My goal is to get to the gym 5 days a week consistantly and put in at least 1 hour of exercise.  I have also started writing down what I eat so I can be sure to get in 60-80 grams of protein, at least 64 ounces of fluid, and stay on track!

I am really looking forward to seeing the changes the next 50 pounds lost make to my body!!

6 week mark

Dec 20, 2010

Today is the 6 week mark from my RNY surgery.  Scale reflects another 2 pounds lost so totals to date are:

36 pounds lost since day of surgery (274)
42 pounds lost since pre surgery weight (280)

Current weight today-238 pounds!!  I haven't seen the 230's in YEARS!!!

Fun side note-hot guy from college that I am friends with on Facebook posted a comment on a picture I took last Friday night telling me I look "fabulous!"  Loved it!!!  I will add the pic to my pictures here.

I am feeling really good already at 42 pounds gone, I can't even imagine how amazing I will feel with another 40 gone and when I get to "onederland!"

Looking forward to the holidays with my children and friends, I hope everyone of you has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

The scale finally moved again!!!!

Dec 05, 2010

Today is exactly 4 weeks post-surgery and this morning's weigh-in revealed an additional 3 pound loss!  246.5 pounds...next stop 230-something, then 220-something, then ONEDERLAND!!!  I was getting a tiny bit freaked out because the scale had stopped moving at 2 weeks post-surgery and even though I knew my clothes were getting looser and even though I am getting lot's of positive reinforcement from friends and co-workers noticing my weight loss so far, it is just nice to see the scale moving in the right direction again!  LOL

New goal though-get my butt to the gym and start some type of aerobic exercise asap!

Current stats are as follows:

HW/SW/CW/GW
280/270/246.5/170

Have a great day everyone!!

RNY complete! Home from the hospital today...

Nov 10, 2010

Let me start by saying thank you thank you thank you to both Dr. Oakley and also to the staff at St. Luke's Hospital in downtown Boise, ID.  I had my RNY surgery Monday 11/8 at 10am and from the moment I walked in everything went smooth as silk and I was treated wonderfully!  Big props go out to Jane the Bariatric Program Nursing director for her IV skills!!! My nurses were all wonderful, and everyone worked hard to make my stay comfortable and productive.

Surgery recovery-woke up with two male nurses right at my bedside working on getting the bit of nausea I experienced under control as well as "getting in front of the pain" I was feeling right below my left breast-time is a little hazy but I doubt it took those fine nurses 10 minutes to get me comfortable and pain-free.  Then up to my room on the 6th floor to join the other 5 bariatric surgery patients of the day.  By early evening I was ready to get out of the bed and actually walked 2 laps around the 6th floor (19 laps make a mile I was told). Very comfortable night Monday, I only used my "pain pump" 2 or 3 times the whole night.  Then up and at it Tuesday, got my catheter out mid-morning and was brought a tray containing 2 ounces of chicken broth, a sugar free popsicle, 2 ounces of sugar free jello, and 2 ounces of crystal light.  I was also allowed to sip 3 ounces of water an hour for 3 hours, then I was given free rein to sip sip sip away as much as I wanted.  And I walked laps on the hour.  4 the first hour, then 5 the next, then 6 the next, then back to 4...altogether I walked 23 laps on Tuesday and let me tell you, walking definately helps you feel better!  It stretches your tummy out and gets the gasses trapped in your abdomen moving.

Speaking of gasses, I was finally able to "pass gas" out the bottom end about 4am Wednesday morning...hallelujah!  A toot has never felt so good!!!  Then Wednesday morning I was able to ditch the IV, take a shower, spoke to my doctor when he came by and told me to get the heck out of there and go home!  Nurse took out the staples from my 6 lap sites, nutritionist came by and reminded me about 4 protein drinks a day for the next two weeks until I see Dr. Oakley again, and I was out of there!

Home now, feeling good, a little tired, drank my first protein shake of 4 oz light soy milk and chocolate proteint powder (well, I didn't quite finish it but doc said that's ok the first few days-but it tasted good at least!).  Also passing lots more gas, feels great!  Now comes the good part-dropping the weight!
