Hi, my name is Nita and I'm 28 yrs old. Married and have 2 little girls. I have serious health problems and am worried about my future. Diabetes runs in my family, in fact both my mom and dad had type 2 diabetes as well as many of my relatives. I've had type 2 diabetes for 8 yrs I'm on insulin and my health is decreasing. My blood sugar is out of control and i have neuropathy (nerve damage) in my legs and arms. Among that I also have many other problems...weight!!! I still remember my Dr. telling me 8 yrs ago, I was 21 yrs old then, that I have diabetes and need to lose 20 lbs. Easier said than done!!!! Hoping it wasn't all that serious I ignored it for several years.
So here I am...8 yrs later and many many more pounds and fearing the worst..I wont be around for my girls and my husband in years to come.
Diabetes has taken my relatives, 1 by 1. Recently I lost my mom, she meant the world to me and my heart still aches, I miss her so much! I am grateful she had a chance to meet my first born but at the same time I was a new mother and still needed my mom's guidance.
Reality hit me hard, I'm the youngest in my family with this disease and the only one surviving. Needless to say , I have chronic depression.
Late last year my nephew, who is also 28 yrs old with health problems, told me about a gastric bypass seminar he attended. I decided to check it out. I had doubts since my previous Dr told me I wouldnt qualify. But now I had a new Dr. Who has supported me thru all this and I'm awaiting insurance approval. I'm excited yet nervous and ready to go all the way!
