I had my surgery on 9/11/2007. My highest weight (although not recorded anywhere) is 282 pounds. At my pre-op testing, I was down to 275. Then since my surgery I have gone down to 256.

Surgery: The surgery went well and I was using the PCA (morphine) in the hospital so my stay was a bit of a blur. However, I can recall getting up and walking as much as I could.

Post-op: I developed a hematoma which got infected so my drains stayed in an extra week.

As of today (10/01/07) I am drain free and almost done with my antibiotics. I start back to work tomorrow and will re-start with my personal trainer after my next follow up appointment which is 10/25/07. I am still on my lovely, mushy diet, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Removal of the drains: In case you are wondering, the penrose drain (on the left) was painless when it was being removed. I could not believe how easy it was. The Jackson Prat (JP) on the right (the long one with the bulb, AKA hand granade, at the end) was a bit of a different story. It did not hurt per say, but was not a pleasant experience either. Be prepared for discomfort along with a strange feeling.

Pictures: I have a lot to upload but just can't seem to figure it out. But I will, I'm sure at some point!

God Bless!
