Hello to all. I have been struggling with my weight all of my life. In September of 2004 I started researching gastric bypass. I went to the seminars and look for the best surgeons. After my research I decided it was something that I wanted to you. It took a couple of weeks to get all of medical records together. After that I discussed with my primary care provider to get his input. We both agreed that I was good candidate for the surgery. After reseraching I choose Centennial and my surgeon Dr. Hugh Houston. He has a great personality and he is very to the point about the surgery. He told me about all the risks of the surgery and also how it would benefit me the rest of my life. I was nerve wrecking worrying about getting approved for the surgery. I turned my papers in about February 2005. And guess what? They went to the wrong department. So resubmitted my papers. I found out that I was approved March 23, 2005. (I had surgery on April 11, 2005.) It changed my life. At first it was hard to eat and keep food down. I had a structure which means your food is getting stuck above your pouch. I lost alot of weight during this period because I couldn't keep food or liquids down. That is only problem I experienced during the surgery. I also had some hair loss during first year. I'm pleased with my results and I watch what I eat everyday.
