My name is Lisa and the thing I am most proud of is staying married to my high school sweetheart since 1978. We have two sons and a "people person" some would call a dog. The past five years have been difficult because due to complications from my weight, doing the things we enjoy is difficult. My knees/back hurt so much, just getting in and out of the camper or on the motorcycle is difficult. I used to be a dedicated shopper but now now it takes a pain pill to do the weekly grocery shopping. I can no longer do for others like I want to because physically, I can't.
Like a lot of the people here, I have done Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, Adkins, the South Beach Diet, the cabbage soup diet, the protein/low fat diet, prescription drugs, Curves, you name it. The least I have weighed during the past 19 years was 235 after my second son was born.
When I went to the doctor in April, I told him I had to lose weight, why couldn't he give me a pill? He administered a battery of tests which included a chemical stress test which scared me silly. On May 7th, I started the 6 month medically supervised diet to qualify for insurance to pay for my WLS.
