Hello,

My story.....  Although I was healthy and in decent shape in highschool I starting my weight gain journey in college.  There was the freshman 10, sophmore 10, junior and senior 10's.  After college, I got married, started my career and got pregnant. Three children later, I had blossommed into 100 pounds over my marriage weight....my poor husaband!!!  I reached the point where my joints were sore, I felt extremely unhealthy and was scared to get any older with this continuation of poor health.  I really didn't think I made too bad of health choices.  I loved my hikes with my dogs and the way I felt afterward, but with my joint soreness increasing, I had to stop.  I packed on another 30lbs and that was it.  I couldn't continue this way.

I had evaluations with two surgeons and liked Dr. Katkhouda.  He is the cheif of minimally invasive surgery at USC University Hospital and although he has done over 1000 roux en Y's he has only needed to bring 2 of those back to surgery.  Within 3 weeks of my initial evaluation, I attended the mandatory class, had my x ray, stress test and labs drawn.  The insurance clearance was quick and I had surgery on my birthday, March 16th!

I am two days out and feel pretty good.  With the help of liquid Vicodin, I was able to take my mile walk today, trying to get all of this gas out of my belly.  I think I am detoxing from caffeine as I am having headaches.

I hope to return to work after two weeks.  That's it for now.  Looking forward to getting healthy again!
