I am a 45 year old mother of one with one granddaughter. I have fougt my weight most of my life starting just after having my daughter when I was 19. I have tried many diets Nutrisystems lost 80 lbs eventually gained back 120. Joined TOPS in 1995 and lost 105 lbs in 11 months I walked over 4000 miles that year. We were in the Military and when we came home from Okinawa Japan I started to put the weight back on ( we didn't have the food choices there that we have here). I have tried several diets, pills, slim fast and so one. Of course none of this has helped me and I am now heavier than I have ever been in my life at 292 lbs. I have researched WLS now for over a year and I have decided that this is the tool that I need to take this weight off and keep it off. I was diagnosed with Hypertension and Diabetes in February and this just made me want it even more. I want to be alive to see my precious granddaughter grow up and to be able to do things with her as she grows. My PCP sent for approval for me to see the surgeon about WLS in February and it was approved. I then called to make an appointment with the surgeon and was told that I must first attend his seminar, have a psych eval and get all of my medical records before I could get an appointmentand the next seminar was not until May 2, this was really depressing. So I was on a mission, I had all of the pre-requisites finished before the seminar. Attended the seminar which was very informational and helpful the Nutritionist was also there so that crossed him off of the list of things to do. When the seminar was over they were making appointments for the psych evals and to see the surgeon. Well I already had the eval so I went right to the surgeons nurse. The first appointment available was June 20, I began wondering was this ever going to happen. So the wait began. My husband and myself went to the surgeon this past Wednesday and all went well. I kind of felt bad because I did not have that many questions for the surgeon except about his statistics, as I have done so much research that I feel like I could do the surgery myself hahaha. He said that I was a good candidate for surgery and that if it is really what I want than we will get the ball rolling. I went to check out up front and Christi said that as soon as she got his dictation back that she would put the packeage together and send it off right away. She said it would be either today or Monday, that she will call and let me know as soon as it is submitted. Woohoo. I am anxiously awaiting her call.
