Stress Test and EGD completed

Sep 22, 2007

Well, so goes the testing (yet again).  I did my Cardiolite Stress Test this week and completed my EGD today with no issues.  I am very pleased to say that Dr. Barker does a fine EGD.  I have had 2 others in my life and always came out with a terrible sore throat and a very swollen uvula. Today, they used Deprovan instead of Versed and I was completely coherent within the hour.  No sore throat and no swollen uvula.  The only noticeable thing was a very, very dry throat and mouth for the rest of the day.

I have a sleep study lined up for Oct 8th, as well as my nutritional and psych visits that same week.  Then comes my second consult with him at which time I guess the decision will be made to revise to gastric bypass.

I really wanted to avoid this, which is why I got the band in the first place.  I have really loved my band(s), but one has to think about whether they want to continue with this rollercoaster of slippages, dilated pouches, fills, unfills, esophagitis, etc.  My life is just too busy right now to consider this constant worry and expense.

The bypass still scares me, but re-gaining my weight and losing the health I have worked so hard to gain scares me even more.

With my health issues, the risks of this surgery are still a concern, but I truly want to beat this monster which it seems I am cursed to live with.

My God is my strength and my comfort.
