Long story short...
Mar 04, 2010
My father died of diabetes. My aunts have been ravaged by diabetes. Kidney failure, blindness, amputation of feet... etc. So the Big D is a bad word in my world. I have tried to fight it with all of my might. Saw a dietitian for months on a 1200 cal diet and regimented excercise program. (Low fat, high carb). My fasting AM blood sugars continued to climb. Have been on 4 different hypertention meds to get blood pressure under control. I have had horrible acid reflux for years. That is the bad part.I am naturally a very happy, witty and outgoing person. Honest! I am also very proactive when it comes to my health. I have deceded that this is what I need to do to get things back in balance for my health. I am not doing this to get skinny and cute, because I am already cuter than hell. Trust me. Always have been. But I refuse to die a slow, painful, expensive horrible death. It is just not in the cards for me. My husband of 20 years has plans for us now that we are empty nesters, and I need to get on with it. Post op, I am temporarily off the Glucophage for oral diabetic control, and hopefully, I can stay off of it. We'll see.
It's a new dawn, It's a new day, It's a new life for me... and I'm feelin' good!
