I've been overweight most of my adult life.  I was a size 10 until after I got married.  Then I started eating any and everything I wanted and the weight came on.  I then became a victim of the yo-yo dieting.  I tried everything from Jenny Craig to B12 shots.  Yes, I would loose 20 lbs and then gain 25 lbs back.  It wasn't until one my good friends researched WLS and asked me my opinion that I really started to take a serious look at WLS.  After tipping the scale at 258 lbs on my 5' 6" frame and not being able to put the dinner tray down flat on an airplane that's when I made my decision to go for it.
I chose the lap band procedure because it was less invasive then gastric bypass.  I went to a WLS siminar 10/20/07 at Sibley Memorial Hospital and began my journey.  After three months of going to the nutritionist, psych counsel, and exercise my papers were finally sent to Aetna HMO 02/08/08.  To my surprise and astonishment I was DENIED on 3/6/08.  I immediately wrote and sent an appeal letter on 3/19/08.  Thank Goodness I got approved.  My initial surgery date was set for 4/14/08 but due to some work conflicts I moved it up to 4/7/08.
