2 weeks out!

Aug 28, 2007

I have been having some pain in my stomach. I know, I am only 2 weeks out and just had major surgery, but it just doesn't seem right. It is not near any of the ports, etc. For two weeks I have been telling myslef things have been rearranged inside, etc. But it is EXCRUCIATING. It is not a constant pain, but lying in bed and being just the slightest bit off to the side, the pain creeps in like a burning fire. And several times it has caused me so much pain I cannot even move. Thak good ness I am blessed with a wonderful husband who has been so incredibley patient with me. Several times it has been so excruciating I have just been wailing uncontrollably. Today I finally called back and went in to see Patrick. He agreed it was strange, and out of the ordinary expected pain. He suspected it might be a pulled muscle, or a neurological thing, like somehow one of the ports had goen through some nerves. Who knows how long it will take to heal. And the reality of me keeping perfectly still all day to let it heal is completel impractical. I have been pretty low key for the last few weeks, but the reality is I have 3 1/2 year old twins, and am a stay at home mom. Life doesn't allow me to stay in bed all day! :) So Patrick gave me a prescription for percocet, and I just took the first dose just now. I feel so good that I trusted my gut (no pun intended!) that it wasn;t regular "after surgery " pain. He also suggested taking Milk of Mag and Colace, as I have not had any real bowel movements since surgery. (I know, TMI....but just very loose ones) I wouldn't have expected otherwise, but Patrick seemed surprised. So I picked both of those up and hopefully those will help as well. Like he said, the pain is in the exact place where my colon is. Anyhow, when I got weighed at the clinic today, I was excited to be down 15 pounds! woo hoo! Other than the above mentioned pain, I am feeling great.
