Just Starting My Trek

Dec 12, 2010

So far I've been to a meeting and had a consult with the surgeon.  He gave me a list of things I need to accomplish, e.g., find a doctor who will monitor my weight loss; join a gym and start working out; checking with the insurance company to see if it covers the VSG procedure; etc.  I am scared but yet looking forward to achieving a weight loss that for the past years I only dreamt about.  Looking forward to talking with you and ask for any suggestions and support you can give.  Thanks.

Update.  Events have changed.  I didn't feel comfortable with the surgeon; so I found another surgeon in the area, who has a lot of experience in performing WLS.  My insurance didn't approve the gastric sleeve procedure which I initially wanted to have done.  So over the course of three months, I had all my tests: labs, x-rays, stress test, and had the necessary consults performed.  The surgery date was set for June 29th, but when I saw the surgeon several days prior to surgery, he informed me my insurance would be approving the gastric sleeve procedure in August.

So I have elected to wait and have the gastric sleeve procedure, hopefully, sometime in August.
