As you can see I joined OH back in 2007. I had just heard about the DS and got on here to do some research. I wasn't ready to consider surgery at that point - I didn't want "the easy way out" or to "cheat". I never thought that about anyone else, just thought that about myself if I did the surgery. Crazy I know.

My background: Like so many I have been overweight since childhood. I wasn't terribly obese until after I had my kids. My first dd was born in 1992, ds in 94 and last dd in 95. I was gestational diabetic with all three. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 1999. I have many other co-morbidity's as well. My diet history has been WW (5 or 6 times), Optifast (Oprah's diet) in 93, and HMR in 2009. I've been on phentermine, and have done countless other diets on my own. And yet, here I am in Sept. weighing the most I ever have. I am on 4 oral diabetic meds, 2 cholesterol meds (plus fish oil pills), blood pressure med, 1 prescription iron pills plus 3 otc ones, multivit., aspirin, and birth control pill.
I am 43 and want to stop taking all those prescription meds! I want to be healthy for my kids. I want to be able to go up a flight of stairs without getting winded - hell what I want is to be able to be active and hiking with my hubby. I want to stop peeing my pants. I want my kids to not be ashamed of me. I want to live a long and healthy life.
