Surgery didn't go so well

Mar 24, 2011

Well I had my surgery on March 8th. My surgeon did not bother to touch base with me prior to the surgery and I had specifically requested he talk with me since the nurses told me I was going to have my gall bladder removed and I was never even once told this. To make matters worse the nurses neglected to follow my doctors post-op directions and did not give me the proper meds, INCLUDING the pain meds!!!! I was in the hospital for the first 15 hours in excruciating pain. They would not help me until I attempted to call 911 from my own hospital bed. The next day the doctor came in and apologized but that didn't really do much good at that point. Needless to say my stay at the hospital was the WORST experience of my life. It's now been over two weeks and I'm down 20 lbs. Happy to see the weight loss but the experience was terrible. I was in shock for almost a week and couldn't sleep or anything. I plan to press charges against the hospital. Hopefully I'll loose another 60lbs and it will all be worth it....I think. Not sure I can get that traumatic night out of my brain!

Approved for Surgery!

Feb 23, 2011

Boy those insurance companies seem to automatically deny everybody dont they? I personally called mine every day and became a major pain in their butt (and did everything they asked) until finally they agreed to allow the surgery. So if you have been denied, pick up that phone and call them directly!! Then call the HR dept of whoever holds the insurance and tell them to call for you. Squeeky wheel gets the oil! Anyhow my surgery is scheduled for 3/15 but I find out tomorrow if I can get it any sooner. I am not working so I'd like to have it done soon so I can recover (quickly I hope) and then get out and find a job!! Prayers are appreciated! - Liz
