I am a 40 year old lady from Windsor. As a child I did not have a weight problem, I was actually small for my age. Then once I hit the teens the weight slowly started to show, but I was never heavy, just chubby. At the age of 25 I struggled through the emotions after the death of my father and food became my comfort. At the age of 26 I was prescribed phen/fen and the weight just dropped off, but unfortunately, like most diet drugs, after time you need more of the same to maintain. I eventually put the weight back on. I continued to get a presciption for diet drugs, not phen/fen, but others, many others and I seemed to be able to maintain my weight. This went on for 15 years and I am so lucky I do not have any damage to my heart valves. A friend of my niece had the lap band surgery and I was intriuged. After attending a seminar at the Holiday Inn Select, I knew this was for me. I am very fortunate to have the support of my mother, brother, husband (he's nervous, but on board) and my extended family (could not ask for more) I hope when all is said and done I am able to enjoy the healthy lifestyle and mobility that I once enjoyed.
