Almost 2 years out!

Mar 09, 2009

My goodness just now noticed I've not updated my profile in a very long time. As most of you know I've had alot of "challenges" this year. First my dear brother had RNY in July and was in ICU until he passed in Oct. I would never want this to discourage people from having WLS but want people to know that it is major surgery and can go wrong. And than got laid off from my job of 7+ years. I'm so blessed to have found support at OH. I'm still at my goal weight but did get down to 140 and a size 8 after he passed and everyone was telling me I was too thin esp in the face. So I've gained back up to 150 and am maintaining a size 12. I'm happy to go from a size 22/24 to a size 12. But have days when I have the urge to eat all day long. The further you are out the more you can eat and still need to focus on portion control, carbs and getting your protein in. I've not done a very good job of exercising at all. If I had to do it over, I would have exercised along the way

11 Months Out

May 05, 2008

I'm still 8lbs from goal. I'm wearing more 12's than 14's these days. Still struggle with stress eating. Now that I can eat anything and everything. I do not dump on sugar (wish I did) the good thing is that I don't crave it much. I still have no regrets of WLS. I have met some awesome people.

I've not been very good about taking pictures lately. The weight loss has slowed down. It is becoming more difficult to stay on track, because now I can eat just about anything and have to fight the urge stress eat. I'm down to 160lbs and wear a size 14 but am starting to fit into some 12's. I have just 9lbs to reach my goal of loosing 100lbs I'm still so glad that I did this and would do it again tomorrow. I not only look much better but can't believe how much better I feel.

8 Months

My goodness it has already been 8 months. I got too busy to post 7 months out or take pictures. I'm feeling great. I'm now in a size 14 jean. I feel great! My energy level has doubled. I'm just now feeling the weight loss. I have an apointment this week with the PS to see about a breast reduction and I've also finally joined a gym.

Wow it's already been 6 months. I'm happy with my progress. The holidays have been difficult staying on track. I can now eat anything I want, and have to fight that old urge to graze when I'm stressed with work stuff. I've lost a total of 73lbs, overall 43inches and have gone from a 22/24 to a 14/16. My energy level has doubled.

Wow time flies when your having fun! I'm very pleased with my weight loss. I'm not loosing as fast as in the beginning but it is steadly coming off. I've had so much fun shopping for clothes! I can now shop at any store in the regular departments. I'm also able to dress like I feel, not just what fits. I'm still not exercising and have got to make myself start.
Trying to work on that.

Four Months Post-OP

Oct 15, 2007

I'm four months out, and things are going great! I'm finally able to mainstream my eating. I've lost a total of 57lbs and have gone from a size 22/24 to a size 16 (my jeans are already getting too big) The only real problem I've had is with my bowels, but I had that problem before surgery. It has just gotten worse since surgery. It is a great feeling to see people that I've not seen since my surgery and they are amazed how much smaller I am now. I just returned from a trip to our regional office and everyone kept saying "your so skinny!" Too much fun!

Three Months Post-OP

Sep 18, 2007

I'm three months post op today. I've had a very good month. I'm able to eat out often (just make different choices and very small amounts)  and can tolerate most foods now. Eggs still give me trouble at times. There are days that I can not get in all my protein, but am doing better. I've had to buy a few clothes this week and was able to shop at Old Navy for the first time for me. I bought a pair of size 16 jeans!! I started out at 22/24. I rarely get sick, only if I've eaten too fast or too much at one time.

Two Months Post OP

Aug 23, 2007

I've not done a good job updating my blog. I'm just a little over two months out. It's that time of the year when my job keeps me busy from sun up to sun down. That is one of the reasons I gained so much weight the past six years. The difference this year I'm not reaching for a candy bar due to the stress. Instead I love my SF popcicles. I still can not see the weight loss until I try on clothes. Started out at 22/24 more 24's right before surgery. Now I can wear an 18 top and pants. Some days are really easy, I don't get hungry other days I really have to manage the hunger. The hardest part is the constant craving for a diet coke.

It's almost like it has taken on an idenity of it's own. I can only feed it at certain times. I can only feed it a certain amount. I can only feed it certain foods. And........if not done correctly it becomes angry and will make me sick. I do at times miss the freedom of just eating what I darn well please, but I have to keep in mind the payoff in the long run. It's almost like a full time job. Buying, eating, taking vitamins, drinking fluids, making sure I get enough protein.........
