One week post op

Jan 18, 2008

well, after one week, let me tell you, I feel great!!!  Once the dr pulled the drain on wednesday, I had energy like you never believe.   Now I don't even have to have a gauze pad on the drain site.  I put a fresh gauze on yesterday (Friday), and nothing was on the pad when I tokk it off this morning so I took the whole pad off.  It  has all scabbed over.  For my incision sites, I took the band-aids off a week ago to let them breathe.  (doc's orders).  He took the staples out when he took the drain out.   I lost 7 pounds from day of surgery to Wednesdays weigh in at the docs office!!  This is awesome!   Plus I can eat some soft foods like scrambled egg, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes, sugar free pudding.   I can only get down about two big tablespoons down, then i get a tightness in my chest and I stop.  The hard part is not drinking water while I eat.  It has always been a staple for me to eat and drink almost at the same time.....no wonder i got this big  lol.   My only problem is my tailbone.   Holy hell it hurts!  I can't sit too long in the recliner because i will start hurting instantly.   Please tell me this does go away!     I also need to get up and start walking....light walking.   But it is sooo cold out there I can't even amagine walking more than 20 feet away and then walk back.   Todays high is supposed to be 19.....no thank you.     Anywho, just another day another update.   Tata!

One More Week!!!

Jan 01, 2008

I am getting so excited but still scared.  Only one week until my surgery .   I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster.  One minute I am all giddy, next minute I am crying and really scared.  I know this is the best for me and my health and I also know that I am in really good hands with Dr. delaTorre.   I just really do not like this 2 week liquid diet, although I have lost 12 pounds since I started the diet.  Oh and I have reached the 50 mark.   I stepped on the scale this past Monday, New Year's Eve and it said 349.   That is 50 pounds exactly from June 20th when I started this adventure!!!   I am soo happy!   Well back to my protein shakes and clear liquids for the next week.  Maybe 12 more pounds will fly off!

Surgery Date!

Nov 29, 2007

Found out yesterday from my pre-op class that my surgery date is January 9, 2008!  I can't  tell you how excited I am!  It is finally happening.  I have lost 43 pounds since June 20th as well to get to this.   Unfortunately, I will be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior but I can still have a Christmas dinner!   I just wont go crazy.   Day after Christmas starts my all liquid diet.  I need to find some better tasting protein drinks too.

Got a Pre-op class date!!!

Oct 04, 2007

My class date is 11/28/07!!!  My insurance aproved me in 2 days!  My only fear right now is that since my surgery is going to be after the new year, obviously because of the holidays, hopefully my insurance won't change their policy about the surgery.   I am now down to 366.2 as of 10/1/07.  I found a great scale at Sams for $32.00.  It goes as high as 380 pounds (which I determined to never see again).

Ready for a new change!

Aug 03, 2007

Well I have entered in all my paperwork to the surgeon,  now I have to lose some weight to get to a 55 BMI or lower.  I started watching what I eat the first of June but never got weighed.  On June 20 I was 399.5, and on July 18 (4 weeks later) I was 389.5.  I lost 10 lbs!  I was very happy.  As of today, 8/3/07,  I lost another 8 lbs, which makes my total, 18lbs in 6 weeks!  I have never been more happy with myself in ages! I am now at 381.5 and working on getting to 360, so that my surgeons office will send the paperwork to my insurance to get approval.
