Mary, Good luck to you with your surgery. I know you will do fine and I can't wait to see you on the other side! I am 4 weeks post-op and -40 lbs. I was such a baby in the hospital, so if I can do it, I know you'll come through with flying colors. My biggest piece of advice for you is to have someone stay with you in the hospital the first two nights in case you have trouble with your pain pump. The nurses, bless their hearts, have a hard time understanding you when you're on pain meds, and they don't pay attention as well as they could. If you have someone with you, they can act as your advocate and get results when the nurses don't respond to you quickly enough. Have your buddy go out to the nurses station and just stand there until the nurses notice them. Then, when they say, "I'll get that in just a moment," your buddy can say, "I'll just wait right here until you're ready." Believe me, the nurses don't want anyone to stand around and watch over their shoulders, so they'll come to your aid right away.
Anyway, now that I'm done with my lecture, I wish you the best of luck and I'll see you soon!
