I never had a weight problem until I tried to get pregnant. As soon as I did, I'd gain 20 pounds. Then within weeks, I'd have a miscarriage and keep the weight. A year later, I again was pg. The pregnancy lasted a little longer, another 20 pounds was gained but saddly, I lost the pg but not the weight. Now, 40 lbs heavier. I tried every diet out there, all to no avail. The third time and it was the last try I became pg, I changed Drs. Gave her all my medical history and she said I had a thyroid problem. So, I began taking meds and monitored during. Dec 1990, at 193 lbs. I had a healthy baby boy. But the weight never went away. i did stop the meds for thyroid, no one said, once on thyroid meds, always on. I went to many doctors over the yrs. Specialists, labs, panels done, no one would put me back on thyroid, due to my numbers being in the normal range. I tried diets, personal trainers. I did manage to lose 25 lbs. I have been on both sides of the fence. Most of my life I was no more than 130 lbs. Now I top 275. I admit that I gave up after so long trying. So, 50 lbs is just because I threw in the towel. Another 40 was when I finally gave up smoking. I did not want to die, living like this is worse than dying. The surgery will save my life and give me a reason to start over again, with results! As I am down 28 pounds now, I know that it will happen. I'll have a second chance of a happier me.
