Okay, I was upgraded last Friday 08/3/2007 to stage 2!!! So , I am now eating soft foods and loving it....nothing has made me sick, yet! I am just following the guidelines and eating what they say I can eat and all is going well!

I did make the mistake of eating Ramen Noodles, bad mistake, I did not have the "dumping" as they say in bariatric surgery but, I felt like I just needed to lay down, my heart was beating so fast and just felt weak almost like having the flu.....I will not make that mistake again!!!

I loved grilled shrimp before but now it is my best friend!!! I do so well with seafood...shrimp, talipa, tuna. It is so light and sits so well that I eat a lot of it!!! I also ate the mini raviolli w/ meatballs and actually did well with that, the small microwave kind...It was so good!!! I eat a lot of yogurt, applesauce and pudding!!!! Still loving the sugar free popsicles--YUM!!! I have not tried chicken, pork, or hamburger yet...still a little nervous about that...I'll get there!!

As of today, I have lost 28 LBS down to 209!!!!! It is so amazing how the weight just falls off....I feel so much better already, my energy is up again, just love the way I feel now! My husband can really see a difference but for me I still see myself as fat and have a lot to lose, I am starting to get better though...I can see a change....and I like it!!!!!

I know I have not posted my pics yet....I have been crazy busy!!! I will try to that this weekend-Talk with you guys soon!!!

Hello everyone!

All is going well. I am back to work actually came back last Wednesday the 25th and I am doing great---no complaints!!! I have my 3-week post op appointment this Friday for the upgrade to soft foods and I am excited and nervous about the next phase. I am just not sure I will be able to get in the amount of protein that I need....right now I am getting in 62 grams a day with the Whey protein and Skim milk....I am sure I'll get through it but just nervous.

So far.... as of this morning, I have lost 23 Lbs total.....I am thrilled about the weight loss...It  is just amazing how I feel with just 23 lbs gone....I can't wait to see what it will feel like to lose 50 Lbs!!!

I just can not say enough about the whole process and the journey! The staff of office personnel and coordinators, Doctors and Nurses and dietician at Duke are incredible! Everything from the beginning to the end was discussed, put in writing and explained in the seminar thoroughly. I feel so blessed and thankful for such wonderful people to help me through this journey, the entire staff of professionals at Duke and Durham Regional Hospital, and most importantly my insurance company BCBS of NC for taking such good care of me.....this journey so far has been amazing and I cannot wait to see what's around the corner for me.....I am on top of the world right now!!!

I Weighed Myself...OMG :)

I purchased a set of scales Friday and weighed myself for the first time since surgery on 07/11/2007 and I could not beleive it myself but I have lost 16 LBS...Is that amazing or what?? In one week, I lost 16 LBS...
I was shocked and was not expecting that....but I am thrilledWell, I can't wait to start posting 50-70-80-100 pound losses...but for now I am thrilled!!!

Hi everyone!
Sorry that I have not posted lately...I've just been home enjoying my kids!!! Well guys I made it!!! I am recovering wonderfully---I have been able to get in 62 grams of protein a day and 3-bottles of water, it is hard but I am doing it!!! I could not be happier with the recovery...all is going so well that I am actually returning to work next Wednesday!!! I'll be ready to get back to some normalcy.

My 3-week post op appointment is 08/03/2007...so I won't be able to eat until then---but to tell you the truth I have not been hungry once!  I do like to watch my family eat and I am enjoying cooking for them---I am now addicted to the food network, wasn't before but I am now!!!

I cannot say enough about the staff of nurses and doctors at Durham Regional Hospital---if there is such a thing, I had the best experience ever in a hospital you could imagine they are all such wonderful, caring people!! I have not weighed myself yet, I have not purchased any scales  yet but I will tomorrow and I'll let you know where I am!!!

Doing great....I will post again soon! See ya!

Okay...so I made it through the long day at Duke Wow...what a long day!

I arrived at Duke @ 7:45 we meet with one of the surgeon's on staff, Dr. Portiener! He was extremely patient with our questions, answered them professionally! Then we met with Dr. Applegate for group psyc consult...it was nice eveyone was able to talk a little about why they were there, what they are afraid of, what they are most looking forward to after surgery, and who is your support...so, it went well!!! Then we met with Patrick the RD and talk about what types of food we could have, the liquid diet, etc... very educational!!

We left the the WL center and headed over to Durham Regional Hospital for pre-registration and more test....EKG, Chest  xray and Bloodwork...all went well!

I am all set for surgery on 07/11/2007...I have finished all the required testing and I am ready for surgery...I am about 38-hours away from surgery---A little nervous but I am READY!!!!!!

Okay...so 1-more thing I can scatch off my list. My daughter finally got her braces on today!!! So that is one less thing on my plate!!! Shewww...I am glad that is done!

Okay-now for me..I am very anxious about my surgery I have post-op coming up this friday 7/6/2007. I want lie, I am getting a little nervous 10-days away from surgery. I do feel confidant in my decision to have RNY and I have all my questions answered...but there is that level of fear that I have...just b/c this is major surgery and there are risk, as with any surgery.
I just keep thinking about my kids and my husband and how much they will benefit from this surgery nevermind what it will do for me... that is a no brainer......but just for my kids to see their "real" mommy and see their mommy with confidance will just be amazing!!! I just can't wait to FEEL GREAT again!!!

He's real: Finally met Dr. DeMaria Today!

I met with my surgeon today! He seems to be a very nice man! I asked a lot of questions and he answered them right away for me! I was really at ease with him. He did seem very busy----I know they are! Duke is the best! Looking forward to next Friday---Pre-op and then I am off to surgery on 07/11/2007!!! Yeah
