1 month out

Apr 22, 2011

Well, one month out and although I can start eating other foods, I am sticking to the protene shakes, tuna or other broiled fish and soups. I am eating an egg or so in the AM and just listening to my sleeve. The first week was not as bad as it may seem. Never thought clear broths would taste so damn good, but was ready to get back on the muscle milk and shakes after 7 days of the clear liquids.
Found that i was comfortable with a can of just about any fat free soups as long as it was blended well and sipped slowly. extually may have exceeded the 4 oz limit in some 15 minute periods, but my sleeve was comfortable with it. Like I said, the worst pain was the gas... Thank God for gas x.....

\tryiong to stay off the scales and back to work overseas. To see that pants that were too tight are now falling off and the ones that I could not button now fit well. Since I will be across the big pond for 5 weeks brought 2 extra pairs that or smaller and fit tight now in hopes they will be perfect whe I head home.
I guess i will see my weight in the AM as I have to do an offshore visit so the weight in ritual for the helicopter is in order. Lets see how that goes....
note to self.... get started on a work out program.... Have yet to start as I am not one to want to walk the streets here in west africa, but should at least do some push ups or walk around our compound....
please to see that I was down from 266 to 238 before i left home. Now i figure there will be a few adjustments as the diet starts to change and this is supposedly the time for the best weight loss so I plan on taking full advantage of it.
i don't have to remind myself to chew slowly as it can be uncomfortable if I don't.
guess I can be thankful that thus far (touch wood) no complications, no nausia, vomiting of severe gas pains.

Starting the journey to a new life!

Mar 22, 2011

Well, headed to eagle Pass tomorrow and meeting with Dr. Alvarez for my VSG. It has been close to a year now siince i started to do my own investigation on what would work best for me. The past 10 days on the pre op diet was hit and miss as I was overseas and not able to be a strict as I would have liked, but it is what it is and hopefully being strict to the pre op for the last 7 days will get me to where i need to be.
I have talked to a few others in my industry that have went throught the VSG and this far nothing to scare me too bad. On the idea of going to mexico, well that was never an isssue as i have lived and worked outside of the US and know that in many cases you can get better health care in places like Thailand, Malaysia and even South Africa. The last surgery i went through was in Thailand and the hospital room was more like a suite at a resort and the medical staff first rate.... The last time i was in a hospital was actually 7 years ago here in louisiana for a ruptured ear drum and the room and staff was not close to what I found in SE Asia.
So, to all of the nay sayers about overseas hospital's and medical care.... All I can say is you have tio have been to one to understand that it is not always the case of what TV in the States shows as a filthy dark room at the end of an alley. Oh, I am certain that places like that do exsist, but if a person does a bit of investigation, they will or rather should know before hand what to expect.
Here we are two days before the VSG... I am positive about it, just wish i would have started sooner...
More progress later....
