So like, hi!

May 14, 2010

I'm Sydney and I live in Portland Oregon. I live here for a reason... it's rarely HOT. I don't mind that I have moss growing on my car and mushrooms poking out of my roof (I don't really!).

My son lives with me- he's 22 and going to school. We get along really well and he keeps me up on all the music trends, goth clothing styles, internet giggles, etc.

I've slowly been getting heavier and heavier as the years go on and I had my first horrible moment recently when I realized I could not fit in a booth at a restaurant. I think that's when it hit me that it was time to stop the downward spiral.  I didn't ever think I would have weight loss surgery, didn't really care much actually. In my little bubble! But I think that really woke me up to taking a good hard look at who and what I was becoming.

Height 5'3 (they say I'm 5'2 1/2 at the doctors office but they're lying... I'm 5'3 damnit! I couldn't have shrunk!)
Weight 330 *sigh*
Age 45

I'm having VSG probably in June 2010. Just waiting on the approval from the insurance.  I went to a seminar about it on February 15th, first appointment was March 25th, signed off on all the testing on April 28th. It's been really really fast but it seems like it's been dragging out so bad. I'm dying to get on with this. (Not the most patient person ever!) I really want to SNOWBOARD this winter! I gotta get to dropping the pounds.

Been doing water aerobics the last couple of weeks. First exercise in a very long time and it feels great. More of a work out than I expected with the water resistance and all. I go for an hour 2 times per week so far. Already I'm feeling like I'm getting some muscle tone. Doesn't hurt my lower back so much to walk a couple blocks now. So, maybe after my surgery I actually will be able to walk for a bit of exercise.

Say hi on facebook if you wanna facebook.com/mikasamoonbeam.
