Everything is running smoothly

Apr 07, 2011

It's been awhile since i've posted here, but i've been a busy bee!!! I have been on a pre-op diet for the past month and finishing my pre-op appointments!!! I have lost 25 pounds!!!!! Again, 25 pounds. I'm ecstatic. I've finished everything for insurance approval, it has been submitted, and now the wait is on. My surgery coordinator says approval with my insurance company takes about a week, so my plan for an April surgery date may come true. My first visit with my surgeon, he said he thought that doing the duodenal switch in 2 surgeries was best for me and he wanted me to lose 10 pounds by the next time he saw me which was this past Wednesday, and again i have bust my ass and lost 25 pounds. He looked at me like a proud father. Now he says he believes i will be able to be switched with one surgery and that is a relief. I've been drinking nothing but water, crystal light and protein drinks. I've cut my carbs by more than half. I've cut sugar to a minimum and completely cut out sweets and fast food. I've been eating regularly including breakfast. I've added more veggies and fruit. And dare i say it........DRUM ROLL PLEASE......I've been exercising As much as i want to have that "last supper"before my surgery i can't stop, and i so wanna reward myself with something sweet and high calorie.......BUT those days HAVE to be over!!!!!!!

Hematologist Appointment

Feb 08, 2011

Today i went to the hematologist and got clearance for surgery!!! YAY!!! This should be my final clearance but its not, because I'm basically starting the process all over. Let me explain. I started this process over a year ago at another hospital. My surgery kept getting postponed or canceled due to my PCP finding things wrong with me that he needed to be checked by a specialist. It would always be close to my surgery date, and appointments at this hospital takes at least 2 months to get. SOOOO, i would go to the specialist and each time i was cleared. Now I'm starting to think my doctor is purposely postponing my surgery. Maybe he's afraid for me i have known him for years!!! IDK. Oh and I'm starting the pre op process over because i changed my insurance and changed my bariatric clinic and hospital. For one my new clinic is more organized, its easier to get an appointment and overall i feel more comfortable with them. Hopefully I'll have my surgery in April.....Fingers crossed!!!
