6 Days Post-Op

May 19, 2009

And I'm feeling fine!  Well, for the most part!

I'm off pain meds so that is a good thing.  And today I have energy, which I didn't yesterday.  So that is a good thing.

The surgery report:

I went in at 6am for registration.  The gentalman who registered me was named Ever.  I saw this as a good sign because my superpoke pet on Facebook is named Ever, a name given to the puppy by my 4 year old son.  They took me right back to pre-op.  The lady who started my IV was named Love.  Another good sign!  My surgery was at 8 and those 2 hours flew by.  Dr. Anez came in very cheerful, his surgical assistant came in talking about making me even more beautiful than I already was, the anthesiologist came and said hello.  Then the ER nurse came in along with the nurse anethesiologist and they both were named Grace!  Another good sign.  That was the last thing I remember.  I woke up in post-op in LOTS of pain that wouldn't get under control.  I was getting morphine, torodol, and finally something else that dropped my pain from a 10 to about a 4.  BUT I was having muscle spasms at my incision site which would shoot the pain to about a 15 for the 10-15 seconds they lasted.  In the first few hours post-op the spasms were happening about every 20 minitues then dropped to every hour, and by that night they would happen once every couple hours.  The next day Dr. Anez's assistant, Tiffany, came in to see me and ordered torodol and that ended them.  After that I had very little pain in the hospital.  Other than the muscle spasms, everything else went pretty darn good.
