I am a 51 year old woman who has been overweight most of my life. I did lose weight after my first child back 30 years ago. I kept it off for a few years until I got pregnant again. And again. Since then, I haven't had any luck with weight loss. My husband of 23 years had to have a liver transplant back in 2001 and most of our focus has been on his recovery. I know that I use that for an excuse, but it was a very traumatic experience that has certainly changed my life. When I was worried, I ate, when I was upset, I ate. When I was happy, I ate. Needless to say, my weight skyrocketed. Now, my kids are grown, and I have a wonderful little grandson. I would like to be around for his life, so it's time to take care of me. I have been referred by my PCP for bariatric surgery. I went to the seminar by Dr. Woodman in Memphis and had an appointment with him. Now I am preparing for my exam by a psychologist and my visit with a nutritionist. Hopefully, these will go well and I can get my surgery scheduled. I am so ready. I can look at the before and after pictures online for ages and it just encourages me to go through this process so that I can become an after. Any messages of support and encouragement would be greatly appreciated.
