It all went really well. I feel much better about everything now that I have met Dr. Kam. He is great. I really liked him. He said that I am a perfect candidate for the band since I only have about 80 pounds to lose. I know that sounds funny, but being only 4 foot 11 inches....that all works out to a BMI over 40. He only said one thing that sorta caught me off guard. He said that he thought that since I didn't have as much to lose as many people that I could also be a great candidate to have the band taken out at some point...after maintaining at goal weight for atleast a year. All of the reading and research that I have done and I have never read that a doc's ultimate goal was to take the band out. It does make sense since every year you have the band your chance of erosion goes up. I am fine with the fact that he would like to take it out as long as I feel confident at that time that I can maintain the weight loss. So....now I just have to get the psych evaluation and a letter from my PCP and it will all be sent off to insurance! Yay! I'm on my way! :)

I'm getting a little nervous about it all, but I totally can't wait! I am just as excited as I am terrified to get this ball rolling. I have read here as well as a few other places online that I have a pretty good surgeon. However, my case manager at the clinic is the absolute best!! Her name is Elizabeth and is very easy to talk to and just has a great personality!
I am dreading the insurance process. I keep trying to tell myself that there is nothing to worry about, but I don't have a great diet history in recent years. Most of big diet attempts were when I was a teenager and soon after my daughter was born. I think that's too long ago to count with the insurance company. I guess we will see. I have heard that Barix Clinics has a good reputation for getting people approved....so I will give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. The worst case scenario is that insurance will deny me and make me do 12 months of a supervised diet program. That's the worst it could be....I'm really trying to stay as positive as I possibly can as of now.
