my name is melissa. im a 26 yrs old. i am married and we have one son. my son is my life. he is one of the reasons why i had to change my ways. i didnt want him to see his mother as this fat woman. i want to be able to run with him. play with his toys with him. and when he gets older go bike riding and a bunch of other stuff.
when i first heard about gastric bypass, my sisterinlaw was going thru her tests. when she had her's done, i wanted to go to her surgeon and go thru all the crap, but things were a little crazy and then i got pregnant in 04 and had brandon oct of 04. i should have tried after that, but i didnt have good insurance at the time. then in march of 05 i got hired at kane and got good insurance.
now at one point i did call to get all the info sent to me and the way they wanted it my doctor had to refer me to dr hamad. he wanted to refer me to some other surg at another hospital and i wasnt for that and i guess at that time i needed a referral for it. (not sure). so i just said fuck it. i wish i would have just said to my doctor look i want to go to her and thats finally but i didnt.
so then in march of 07 i finally made the call again to dr hamad's office. well they changed things around. i saw the surgeon first. (i didnt need any referrals either)
after filling paperwork out, getting weighed and watching the video, i met with dr hamad. she def said i was a canidate. i was happy, but wasnt happy that i had to do a 6 month diet, plus all the other fun tests.
my 6 month diet was over in sept 07. according to my doctors office i started at 272 and i got down to 254. but from sept to end of oct i gained 5 pounds. i wasnt happy but it may have been muscle. so from sept to oct i had to wait bc my iron leveles were low so i had to take iron supplement and once oct 22 came i was able to get my iron rechecked. they got the results that day and summited to my insurace and i was approved and my date was set for nov 2
