Ascension St. Vincent - Carmel Bariatrics

"The reason I chose Good for privacy and Average for Restfully quiet was because they came in to check on my about every 3-4 hours. Which was a great thing because it showed they cared and they knew what was going on. "

"I felt very comfortable at this hospital and would recommend it to anyone. I gave an average rating for parking because the hospital is going through construction and it was hard to find a parking place. I have a good rating for quite resting because when you have the Gastric Bypass surgery, they are continually coming in your room to check your vital signs and also make sure your stomach stitches are not getting infected. You also have to be up walking alot, so they are coming to get you to walk. But it is only for your own good!"

"I attended the Laparoscopic Bypass Seminar on Wednesday, January 8, 2003. Her class was supposed to start at 1:00 PM, but didn't get started until 1:30 PM. Which was great for me because I was 15 minutes late. Her staff was really nice and helpfull. I went up to the window to sign in and I had forgot all of my paper work and they gave me a new packet. I filled the packet out. The class was really formative and I feel much better about having the surgery done now. The main thing that I was worried about was dying. There is less than 1% chance that will happen. The main reasons why patients die was because they didn't follow up with walking right after surgery. In which they formed blood clots and died. The other reason was because the patients died not due to the surgery but due to a heart attack, etc. But they had to include that with the surgery percentage because they died within 6 months after surgery. I will also tell you to show up for the seminar early because at the end of the class she talks with one person at a time and they go by when you signed in. I was last so I sat for 3 hours waiting to see her. But that was my fault not hers. During class she was very patient and answered questions very well. She knows what she is doing and I like that about her. I felt really comfortable in her class and in the waiting room because her chairs were not too small and they were very comfortable. If you are big and have problems fitting normal sized seat, you know what I mean. Her staff was really patient and helpful. I have read the past reports of people saying they had to wait for the predetermination letter from her for forever or even having to keep calling back, well I had now problems at all. I received her letter a week and a half later. In which seeing how big the class was, I was surprised to receive it so soon. So I have faxed my letters and past health reports to my insurance and I am waiting to hear back. In which it could take up to 6-8 weeks. But Dr. Jones would like for you to call your insurance company every 2 weeks to follow up with them. All in all, everything went great!"
