3 months out

Apr 11, 2011

Its been awhile! I am now 3 months out from my Roux-en-y surgery. So far so good. I've had a few complications but nothing major and I'm so thankful for that! Ive lost a total of 129 lbs but since surgery Ive lost 64 lbs. I can pretty much eat anything I want to try but I tend to feel sick a lot after eating still. Especially if I try something I know i REALLY shouldn't be eating but I want to try anyway. I'm not too good with meat yet. Hamburger, Chicken, Turkey, any meat really makes me sick. I've had a kidney stone already. I've never had one before and that WAS PAINFUL!!!!

Its probably  my fault because Im not getting my protein in like I should be but I've never been able to do that. My stomach does not like the protein shakes & ive tried over 30 flavors. But now, my hair is falling out HORRIBLY. Its so scary. it comes out in clumps. So, I'm going to force myself to get more protein in & start taking my vitamins like I should be.

The only other thing Ive really had problems with is my bowels. They are very irregular and Im constipated most of the time. That also being my fault. lack of Fiber.

So, take my advice and take ur vitamins & protein because its not worth not doing it. I'm sure I'd feel MUCH BETTER if i was taking them like i'm supposed to be. As of today, I'm going to be taking them regularly.

I can already notice some loose skin so I know theres a lot more of that to come. I just joined Planet Fitness so I can get into a work out routine <3

2 weeks post-op

Jan 15, 2011

Okay so I'm 2 weeks and 2 days post op. Everything has been going smooth so far! Thank goodness. Im Finally done with my Blood thinner shots. I had my 2 week check up yesterday and the DR said everythings going well. I told him of my concerns.

#1- Protein. Cant keep them down. Tried about 20 different types. No bueno. His answer- Try Unjury. He gave  me some sample packs. I tried the Chicken soup flavor and its GREAT! I can actually keep it down and it tastes good! I'm excited to try the chocolate too.

#2- Getting sick in the shower. Light headed, qweezy (sp), weak. His answer- When you get in a shower its usually really hot water (correct) and it makes blood vessels contract (i think thats the wording he used) so the blood flow leaves the head and since I'm not eating like i was before, causes these sick feelings. His advice- make sure Im really warm before i get in the shower and try not to use really hot water & that will help.

#3- Constipation. Ive had problems with this since my pre-op liquid diet. His answer- get a fiber supplement & try a colace. Works wonders.

So if any of you have had any of these issues, theres some idea for you =). I dont really think anyone reads my blogs but I'll put it on here anyways.

Oh, i also got weighed yesterday and Ive lost 11 lbs since surgery. Exciting =)

I'm now eating tuna salad, egg salad, soups, cheese, toast , and loving it =) In a few days I can start having Fish so I cant wait for that!!

Day 2 home from surgery

Jan 01, 2011

All I can say is, Thank you pain pills because I don't think I could manage without them! I got the energy to take a shower & that took A LOT of energy. Ive still been walking around a LOT today though. Id say Ive walked atleast 7-10 times for about 10 minutes each time. I managed to eat 1/8th of my jello cup & drink lots of water & keep my pills/vitamins down.

Can't wait for it to start feeling better!

Home from Surgery

Dec 31, 2010

Hello all,

I got home from the hospital around 3pm today. My surgery was done yesterday around noon. The pain is mostly on the left side where they did the majority of the procedure but I'm getting up and walking around quite a bit. I'm trying to do everything I can for a speedy recovery.

Any helpful tips or anything would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much

My Journey begins

Nov 04, 2010

So, My journey is just beginning. I've been contemplating Weight Loss surgery since I was 18 & I'm now 22 (so about 4 years now). It was like a roller coaster ride..I'd want to do it, then get scared & try to lose it on my own, then want to do it again, then get scared. But now, Its different. I know this is what i NEED to do.

I am a little over 400 lbs & 5'4. I've been overweight my entire life. I just recently got a job that actually covers the surgery. I'm a very happy go lucky kind of girl & always look to the positive in life. I am a Christian & I LOVE GOD! He's helped me through so many ups and downs that I can't believe it.

I recently attended the seminar & i'm waiting for the dR to call me back to see about getting my referral letter from him. Next step is to make my initial consulatation with the surgeons office.. I can't wait :)
