Very common story here, I was fat at age 10, I went to weight watchers camp (Carnie Wilson was a fellow camper) at age 12, I took mini whites and speed in my teens, I did medifast at 19, I took the pregnant horse urine shots, thyroid pills, the amphetamines, the liquid diets, the nutri systems, the methamphetamine, meridia, atkins, etc. I was sucessful on atkins & meredia, then I got pregnant, and I had to quit all craziness, and I actually did ok thru my pregnancy, I actually felt grounded, then I breast fed and lost my pregnancy weight then I stopped breast feeding and took ephedra, then I went to a nutritionist and took bontil then I stopped going and started gaining weight, now i'm past my full term pregnancy weight, i'm 40 yrs old, and i'm tired.
A couple of gals that do my hair had the surgery done, i'm not sure if they had lap band or rny, but the results were incredible, I toyed with the idea for many years, but this time I took it serious. The biggest stress in my life at this point is my weight. I hate getting ready for work, I don't dress nice because I think why bother you're fat, nothing is going to change that, it's ugly plain and simple. But besides the vanity, I am having problems with my knees, and feet, and I must face this head on.
I found this board after I spoke to my PCP who is in complete support of me. I've been his patient for 9 years and he has seen me struggle, and has seen my efforts etc., so with his blessing, he gave me an ekg, and took the blood, now the process of insurance foot work comes to play. I need to see a special dr. who is like the gate keeper of this process, he either says yea or nea to the insurance. I was approved to see him on November 6, 2006. He requested records from my PCP stating i've seen a nutritionist, done a supervised diet for x amount of time and can't loose weight. I played phone tag with both dr's to get the paperwork one needed, and finally after a month of going back and forth, the gatekeeper, fowarded his recomendation for surgery, I got approved for a consult with the surgeon, my appt. is 01/10/07. I'm excited, nervous, etc. but this board is so helpful. That's my weight story.
Here is my personal story, I am 40 years old, a mother of a 4 year old girl, on and off again engaged to her father, whom i've been with off and on since I was 16. We both love our daughter dearly, and for the most part like eachother, but we can't get on the same page at the same time because some sort of something happens to digress our progress. But enough of that, I am in the process of this scary journy and I hope to find a friend to help me thru it. This board is amazing, I love reading the stories.
