I'm still at 220 today.  I am hoping to break that threshold sometime soon.  I am still firlmy in a 16, though people are telling me I look much smaller.  I've gone down several inches in bra sizes, but NO cup sizes!  This is disapointing.  I wonder if they will ever go down.

Note to myself when i have a plateau:

Lei's "Cowboy Stew"

 

My version of a PLATEAU BUSTER!!   This stew helps me to "flush out" my system and jumpstart my weight loss. It's like a natural laxative, per se' - healthy, delish, filling and good for you.  It's a very basic recipe that Ive fine tuned over the years, based on different types of beans, proteins, veggies, and good carbs that my body needed to avoid starvation mode while still losing weight.

 

I don't like to cook, per se' - so if Im in a lazy mood [which is often] I use the canned items in my stew. If Im in a Martha-Home-Maker kinda mood, then I use the dried (fresh) beans - 1 bag of the 15 bean mix and 1 bag of Kidney beans.  Just cook them according to the directions on the bag. 

 

Other then that, the recipe is pretty standard as follows. 

 

  1 can Lima beans

  1 can Pinto beans

  1 can Kidney beans

  1 can White navy beans

  1 can Butterbeans

  1 can diced tomatoes (choose your flavor)

  2 cans spicy V8 juice

  1 entire large cabbage - chopped/shredded into bite size pieces.

  2 large potatoes, skinned, chopped.

  1 large onion

  2 small cans of mushrooms (or 1 large tray of fresh)

  1 can green chili's diced (mild, med, hot, your choice)

  1 lb lean ground turkey meat

  2 precooked chicken breasts or thighs, diced -or- any other type of MEAT leftovers on hand. Sausage? Pork? etc.

  2 table spoons of minced garlic, or 8 fresh cloves

  2 table spoons low carb ketchup

  Various seasonings, salt, pepper, garlic, MzDash, Onion Salt, tobassco, etc.

 

Grab a LARGE pot (big and deep enough to hold ALL the above indredients) and use it to brown turkey meat, garlic (if it's minced) and chopped onions with dry seasonings of your choice. Drain what little grease there might be.

 

In the same pot, add the diced potatoes, garlic cloves (if it's fresh) and cabbage, about 3 cups of water, and the V8 Juice. Boil for about 20 minutes, giving the potatoes a chance to cook.

 

Then add ALL remaining ingredients, just dump them in.  If you used fresh beans, add them "cooked" to the pot.  If you're using canned beans, just open the cans and DRAIN the juice first. Add the entire can (with juice) of chilis, tomatoes, etc. You might have to add a little more water, to keep it from cooking out, also don't be afraid to SEASON it. Seasoning is our friend, and since you'll be eating this soup for several days, 2 to 3 times a day, you want to make darn sure you LOVE the way you've seasoned it.

 

About the 3rd day of eating this, I try to add a new twist to it, to change up the taste again. Maybe a can of corn? Or some black olives? Or a little bit of shredded cheese?   Sour cream... etc.   The CORE blend of ingredients always seems to jump start my weight loss.   This is ALL I eat, 3 or 4 times a day until the pot is empty, normally lasts about 5 to 6 days.  I also drink lots of water (100 oz +) during this time.

 

Nutrients per 1 cup serving:  Calories 280, Protein 25 gr, Fat 5 gr, *Net*Carbs 19 gr (from good [bean] carbs, after deducting 9 gr of fiber)

I just got back from Houston for Memorial Day Weekend.  I have not been doing so good with the food.  I'm getting in btw 300-700 cals per day.  I emailed Zola for a food plan, but have not heard back from her yet.  Anyway, Houston was an eye opener.  I had a really good time wiht my friend Tammy.  We went out and partied, adn I saw some folks that I had not seen since high school.

Speaking of high school... Demarcus.  We've been friends since high school.  18 years to be exact.  So I spent the night at his house Sunday night.  He was so rude to me.  I can't tell the whole story here, but I was absolutely humiliated, confused, disrespected and crying when I left at 9 Monday morning.  

WHY did I think that things with the boys would get easier as I got smaller?

Morning black people!  I had GB last October, and have been doing aight.  We'll talk about my food consumption problems another time.  But RIGHT NOW I have something else on my mind.  I recently discovered that I was under the MISTAKEN ASSumption that "things" would get better between me and the BOYS as I got smaller.  Man, I spent last weekend in Houston and stayed the night at an old friend’s house.  We've been friends since HS, and in fact, he was "my first".  Well, we've been doing it on and off ever since. What can I say, we're good at it :)  

ANYWAY, that negro invited another woman over while I was there.  I had fallen asleep on the couch before she got there and he asked me if I wanted to stay up or get in the bed.  I kinda thought something funny was going on, but was too out of it at 2am to struggle, so I went to bed.  He was helping me make up the bed in the guest room and said not to be surprised if he came in and got in the bed with me later.  That would have been aight with me and it was kinda what I was expecting.  SO NOW I'm thinking that his lil friend wants to see him after a night on the town, and he'll be in  in a minute.  How about he never came.  I woke up about 8 and showered and got dressed and knocked on his door so he could open the gate.  How about SHE was still in the bed with him!!!!!!!!!

HE had the nerve to ask why I was jetting so early.  I was crying and told him that He had played me and I was hurt and disrespected.  He ain't called and neither have I.  We didn't have this problem when I was 300 lbs.  Why did I think that loosing weight would make me more desirable to men and less dissable?
Anyone else getting more jerked around now than before?  Please help!




Oh yea, I'm still at 222 lbs.

7 months out.


Ya'll know I have been struggling with loosing 2-3 lbs. this month.  I KNEW it would come off during my period - as it has been doing for the last couple of months.  I am happy to say that I started my period last nihgt.  I weighed in this morning at 222!!!!!  I got my 10 lbs in this month anyway!!  That's 95 lbs.  On to 100 lbs. by month 8.


I knew I was loosing inches because I went from my size 18 to a 16.   It's good to see it on the scale as well ; )

Quinn spent the night with his father for the first time.  Happy Mother's Day to me!

Good LAWD!  I feel so much better today.  After a week and a half of NO BOWEL MOVEMENTS I called y surgeon's office yesterdat.  His practitioner called me back and told me to take Phosporus Citrate.  She said it was dynamite.  I had already taked enemas and Miralax on Friday and Sat with no results!  So I drank the 10oz. bottle and nothing for the longest time.  Then I did a little Fleet glycerine enema. 6 hours after I drank the nasty stuff things started moving!  Some yesterday, and much more all morning.  Thank you Jesus!  I'll never let it get this bad again.  I bought some fiber supplements which I will take everyday.  


Took my size 18 pants back to LB today and ordered some 16s.  YEA!  I am no longer an 18.  I can't wait to jump on the scales tonight and after my period on the 14th ish.  YEA ME!

My boss told me I was getting small nad that my pants did not fit like they used to.  Is he lookign at my butt?!? :)

I suppose I had a mini WOW moment.  This mornin ga lady at work asked me what I had been doing to loose weight.  Well, first she congratulated me on my weight loss.  I told her that I had GB in October.  She said that she had been denied by our insurance.  I had GB before I got to this job, so I really can't help her with that one.  Anyway Lucerne was listening and told me that that lady had asked her the day before if SHE knew what I had been doing.  Lucerne said that she had just been here 3 weeks and could see the change in me!  She had encouraged the lady to just ask me.  

That felt good.  I had been kinda depressed about how slow the weight had been coming off this month.  I broke the 230 mark and am down in the 220s somewhere.  I was wrong to be upset, knowing that my weight comes off during my cycle which isn't until the 14 or 16th.  So let me chill.  It's coming off and others are noticeing.  It's a good day.  

I was getting messages from people who said my weight loss was slow because I was not eating enough.  So I have been doing fitday.com all week.  I was only getting in between 500-700 calories a day.  Yesterday I got up to 800 and was so stuffed.  Maybe I can try that switch-up once or twice a week.  Eating took up my whole day!  I don't like eating that much, but if it works-- it's for me!

I have got to figure out how to get under 200 lbs and fast!!!!!!!!  I jsut looked at the weight loss charts nad I am not doing so good.  I still eat very little and for the most part make good food choices.  If I don't I feel like crap after.  But at almost 7 months out - I am not as far as other people report on the forums.  I know I shouldn't compare because it makes me feel bad, but I want what they have.  People are telling me how good and skinny I look.  I'm at 230 lbs. now!!  What are they looking at???  I'm still in my 18 pants and 14/16 tops.  I want to be SMALLER!  What am I going to do about it?!?!?

I brought some of my New-Weigh 42g. protein drinks.  I'm gonna mix them with water and keep my protein up.  I am also going to up my water.  What else can I do??! HmMMM!  O yea, there is always that E word.  I can do some exercising, but I just feel so lazy! Don't know why.  I've been taking my vits everyday and the B12 suppliment once a week as directed.   I'm gonna have to bite the bullett and take Quinn walking this afternoon.

I never thought it would be me!  I'm loosing my hair!!!!!  I suppose I started to notice it about a month ago.  I had my beautician cut it when I was in Houston because it was looking thin to me.  I would estimate about 25% is GONE!  I bought and have been taking vitamins just for hair and Silicon for almost a week now.  I need my hair back!  I  weigh 229.

So I had my 6 month checkup last Thursday.  I was 318 the week before surgey and weighted in at 233 on Thursday a the doctor's office.  That's 85 lbs.  I suppose I'm happy about that.  I am just anxious for my shape to look better.  My thighs are still too big.  I swear that I will start exercising immediately.  I went to the gym with Kim last week and was hurting.  But I could feel my muscles getting tight and I definately liked that.  So I am going to invest in a membership.

Well I'm still lingering around that 240.  Doesn't look like I will reach that little goal of 100 lbs for my 6 month checkup.  I'm even starting to feel a little shitty about my 77 lbs loss.  I know it's a great deal, but I feel like I should be farther along.  I did my blood testing in N.O. for my 6 month checkup in Houston next week.  I can't wait to hear what Dr Marvin and Dr Hewlett (liver specialist) have to say about my levels.  I hope that all is well.  

On the up side, I bought two size 14/16 shirts at Lane Bryant today. Still in size 18 pants.  May have something to do with no bowel movement all week.  I'm gonna fix that tonight.  Pray for me Ya'll.
