TWO YEARS!!!

Feb 03, 2009

Hi guys - just a quick update.  I will be 2 years out on Valentine's Day.  I have done very well and am 70 pounds down.  I have changed my career and now work as a WELLNESS COACH helping others make healthy lifestyle changes.  A nice change for me from straight counseling.  For the newbies out there - this can be done and it can be maintained.  I am so glad I had my VSG!!!

ONE YEAR

Apr 07, 2008

I made it through the year!!!!

Have lost 65 lbs so far and seem to have stabilized here for a while.  I am more active and feel so much better.  My chronic joint pain is so much less and I am able to do activities I couldn't do before (still doing yoga and stretching so much further!!!)

It has been a very difficult year emotionally with losing my uncle and father both to cancer in the space of a few months and I took a new job this year which has added additional stress (good change, but still some stress there).  I've also had a uterine ablation (female surgery) due to ongoing problems with my cycles for the last few years.  So I'm very proud to have made it this far without falling into my old coping habits.  I just don't have the urge (or ability) to binge anymore!!!

All in all I am VERY pleased with my progress.  I no longer feel that impending sense of doom like I have felt in the past with weight loss.  My body seems to have settled at this weight for now, and a MUCH smaller amount of food satisfies me.  Some days I eat better than others, but overall I am able to make healthy choices and feel so proud of my accomplishments so far!!  Now that the weather is getting nice I need to get in gear and get out walking again!!!

Here's to another successful year!!!

Six Months Already???

Sep 02, 2007

Wow, where did the last three months go???  I have lost an additional 12 lbs over the last 3 months.  It's much slower, but with all of the stress of the past three months I'm not surprised.  I do continue to lose inches which is keeping me going.  My fat pockets on the front of my arms are shrinking and I can wear sleeveless shirts comfortably.  I even managed to do a bit of running this week (jog/walk combo) and I haven't done that since my teens.  I have been dealing with grief, new job, and long commute and this Gol-DURN heat in GA so I haven't been doing my exercise.  However I have to say fall is my time of year.  The minute the air turns crisp and the mornings turn chilly, my energy usually soars.  (It was that way before surg, so I expect it will be really great this fall!!!)

Stats
Lost Weight - 60lbs
Chest  -3.5
Waist  -10.5
Hips  -9
Arms  -2.5 ea
Thigh  -6.5 ea

Size 14 & Large from regular stores and they fit nicely.  Can squeeze into a 12, but don't want to go out looking like a hoochie mama!!!

Three Month Update

May 19, 2007

I finally got into onderland yesterday!!!  I was so excited as I don't think I've been under 200 in about twelve years.  My measurements were going down, but that darn scale was stuck.  I have added some raw veggies and salads back into my diet and I think the fiber has helped.  I am still getting in 3-4 workouts per week (dancing, walking, workout DVD's) and I do a good job of getting in my water each day.  Onwards and downwards!!!

Stats:

Wt loss to date: 48 pounds
Inches Lost: total 23.5
Chest      3
Waist      8
Hips        6.75
Arm         1.25
Thigh      1.5

I am enjoying dancing and being more active.  I do come home sore sometimes, but it is the good kind of sore as in my muscles are being challenged vs my joints hurting from carrying around so much extra weight.  My energy is much better - I feel like doing things at the end ov the work day instead of coming home and going to bed/couch each night.  My DH says he can really tell a difference in how i feel and I am so glad he has noticed!!!

The hair loss seems to have slowed back down.  I am choking down 1/2 of a grape new whey each morning and in the evening for extra protien.  I still hate the taste, but am able to tollerate the grape.

Have a great month, ya'll!!!!

New job & new wardrobe

Apr 26, 2007

I have a new job!!!  No more nights and weekends for me (yay).  Of course none of my old "office" clothes fit anymore so I HAD to go shopping...he he.

I went to Coldwater Creek, Kohls and Belks and got about 6 outfits.  All are out of "travel knit" material which will drape nicely as I continue to shrink.  With the exception of one navy outfit, most are in the black family and I bought all skirts & tops so I can mix and match with the solid black travel knit pieces I already have.  Most of the skirts I can take in at the waist later and they will continue to look nice.

Last week I exercised every day with a mix of walking, recumbent bike, dance videos, and a ballroom dance class.  This week I have been a bit stretched, but have gotten in two workouts and should be able to do three more.  I went to the gym on Monday and did yoga yesterday and plan to do walking/dance class over the weekend.  My energy level is better and should continue to improve as I move away from flipping shifts.

The scale is stuck again...another dreaded stall, but my inches are going on down so not too worried about it.  I am hoping to break out of the 200's before my three month surgiversary.  Just two little pounds...

I got my hair done and the stylist did 2 colors - red with highlights.  It looked so nice yesterday I had to take a picture.  I also put up a picture of one of my new work outfits.  I notice I seem to have lost a chin along the way.  It won't be missed...

C'mon scale - MOVE!!!

Two Months Down

Apr 15, 2007

Well, two months have gone by and I am doing pretty well with eating, getting my protien in, drinking my water, and taking my vitamins.  My horomones are still a bit out of whack, but I am working with the gyn to get this resolved.  I am down 28 pounds since surgery and 40 pounds total, which is pretty amazing!!!  Posted some new pictures of me in my size 14 Bobbie Brooks Jeans.  Have a great month, ya'll!!

Selling Myself Short!!!

Mar 07, 2007

I just noticed on my opening blog that my pre surg weight was 234, not 231.  I have been selling myself short!!  I'm down from 234 to 215 and that's 19 pounds total!!!  How could I have missed THAT???

I'm updating my signature RIGHT NOW!!!

Almost three weeks and 16 pounds down EDIT - 19 lbs down

Mar 06, 2007

The last three weeks since surgery seem to have flown by!!  I am down 16 pounds so far and I have lost 4in in my waist 2in in my hips and 1 1/2in in my thighs.  I can now go closet shopping and wear outfits that I haven't had on in a while.  I was able to wear 3 button up shirts that had gotten too small and I can wear regular XL pants.  I find I can eat pretty well.  I am getting in the protien and water each day and walking 4-5 times per week.  The smell of some things nauseates me (mainly pork and shrimp)  My first week back at work was hard and I was VERY tired, but energy is slowly returning.  Will stick to 3 days per week thru March and April to give myself time to heal (that's 36hrs per week - I work 12 hr shifts)  I plan to take pictures at one month intervals and will be posting some pictures next week!!
