4/3 - 1st Post Op Follow Up

Apr 03, 2008

So today I took an hour and a half drive to visit Dr. A for my first follow up. I actually met his physician's asst. Joanne and she was great. I have to say everyone in Dr. A's office is great. Anyway she'd weighed me today and I actually weighed a pound less than at home.....yay!! I set my first weightloss goal at 199. I figure one step at a time is easier for me. My incision's look good and are healing well and I'm now on the stage 2 diet. So tonight I had oatmeal and it was so good. So far so good, I feel fine after eating it so far. I am so glad the clear liquid stage is over, it felt like forever and it was so boring. In about 2 weeks I will hopefully move onto stage 3.
People around me are noticing my loss but I don't. I guess that's pretty normal though.
So here's what everything is looking like:

Highest weight:  269
Preop weight: 260
Current weight: 234
Current goal: 199
Ultimate goal: 145

4/2 - So Tired!

Apr 02, 2008

The title says it all. I've been extremely tired the last few days so I'm taking it easy and resting when I can.  Tomorrow I go to see Dr. A for my first follow up visit. By the time I leave I should be on Stage 2 diet-pureeds. I'm actually excited about this.
I have to say the last 2 weeks on clear liquids is the hardest part of this process so far for me. I can't wait to eat something with substance and flavor. I'm actually looking forward to oatmeal, refried beans, & bananas.
I'm down 23lbs. so far and like I said before I'm really happy about it.

4/1 - April is here!

Apr 01, 2008

Haven't posted in a bit. Everything is going well. I'm down 22lbs since surgery so I'm really happy. I little tired today but I think I over did it again. People have noticed the weightloss in my face and shoulders. Thursday I go for my first follow up appt. with Dr. Artuso. I should be moving on to the pureed stage. I can't wait to eat something with some substance. I'm so tired of this clear liquid stage. Everything else here has basically gone back to normal. I still can't lift or push myself but all in all so far it's been a great experience.

3/27 - Best Day so Far

Mar 27, 2008

So I'm feeling pretty good today. I think I may have overdone it a little just not taking time out and resting but otherwise things are good. In the last 3 days I've lost 14 pounds....which is amazing!! I'm so happy. My husband went to work today, his first day back after nursing me for a week and when he came home he noticed a difference in me. Yay!!
One thing that's weird are the chills and being cold. The last two days I just couldn't get warm. Very weird. Planning on more rest tomorrow.

3/23 - Happy Easteer, I'm Home!

Mar 25, 2008

I got released from the hospital today at about 10am and was home for noon. Pretty tired. My parents came over to help out and my mom made Easter dinner. I slept through that. Still pretty tired. The kids were excited to see me and I basically had a pretty good day.

3/20 Surgery today!

Mar 25, 2008

Got up at 5am today and headed to the hospital. My surgery was scheduled for 10am but didn't get in until about 11:30am. Everything went very well. Had a small anesthesia problem but Dr. Artuso was on top of it all. Slept most of the day.

3/19 - So busy!

Mar 18, 2008

So, tomorrow's the day and I'm very excited and getting a little nervous. I've been running around everyday this week. Monday morning I went for all my pre-op work and it was all good. Monday afternoon I had to go to a wake (my close friend's dad). By the time I got home it was 5pm and time for dinner. Yesterday was Michael's preschool Easter party and then I had to go shopping. I picked up some things for the house for when I'm in the hospital and I also found some stuff for myself.  I got a handy 64 oz. pitcher for my water, decaf coffee packets, sf jello.
Since I'm going in for surgery tomorrow, we are going to color eggs today.
Today I'm staying home and cleaning the entire house. I should also be getting a call from the hospital today for tomorrow. That's all that's happening for now.

3/14 - Stressful Day

Mar 14, 2008

So today was a stressful day.  First off, we had to figure out what we were doing with the kids while I'm in the hospital 1 1/2 hours away. My SIL's on Thursday and my Mom's on Friday & Saturday.
I have also been waiting on my scripts from my surgeon for my pre-op testing and they still haven't arrived. I have my appt. set for everything on Monday morning at 8:30am. I had to call the surgeon's office and have them fax over all my pre-op orders to the PCP. I hope they got everything. I'm hoping that I get the scripts in the mail tomorrow. I hope this all works out in the end. Why does everything have to be so stressful?
Some good news, the surgeon has me scheduled on Thursday 3/20 at 10am. We'll probably have to leave the house at 5:30am to avoid any NYC rush hour traffic. I'm sure I won't be able to sleep that night anyway, so it doesn't matter to me.
My husband is taking me out tomorrow night for my "Last Dinner" (that's what he calls it).  I'm looking forward to it but I really can't wait for Thursday.

3/13

Mar 13, 2008

I've been trying to get ready for next week. Finished Easter shopping today. I also picked up a new robe for the hospital and sweats and shirts. I also picked up my chewable vitamins.
We talked to the boys about Mommy going in the hospital next week and before you knew it Nicholas wanted to know how baby's get in and out of their Mommys. Kids are so funny.
Anyway, not much else happening for now.

3/11 - I'm Approved!!!

Mar 11, 2008

After getting yesterday's letter from Aetna about them waiting on more paperwork, I decided to call my surgeon's office. Laura told me that everything was sent out this morning and insurance had all of it.
Well, at 2:41 today I received a call from Laura. I figured she needed something else or something was missing.....but it was good news.
I was approved. It was so fast and I am so happy.
I worried myself as soon as we got close to submitting to insurance. I was petrified  of being denied.
All I have to say is that I'm so ready for this change in my life and I'm going to work harder on this than I ever did before.
I am going to be successful.
I am going to enjoy every active moment with my children.
And I'm so lucky to have such a supportive husband.
I'm so happy!!!!!
