Referral from PCP

Jul 06, 2010

I went in to see my PCP at Kaiser in Baldwin Park, California.  She is young and nice but at times not very understanding towards those who have obesity.  She would always tell me to walk and get the lecture to watch what i eat.  Last year, she had mentioned weight loss surgery and I wasn't ready and asked her for diet pills.  She was reluctant to prescribe them to me but she prescribed a low dose of phentermine.  I lost like 15 pounds in 1 month but I gained it all back when I stopped taking the pills.  For those of you who have taken phentermine you know that it makes you a little crazy because you tend to stay up all night, have no appetite, and become agitated at your family.  I was tired of trying all these diets and losing weight and gaining it all back plus a few extra pounds.  I went to see her on July 6th and told her that I wanted a referral for gastric bypass.  She said she would refer me but that she wanted me to know that I need to make permanent changes in order to be successful.  She said she has seen 95% of her patients lose most of their excess weight but she has seen 5% of her patients do poorly because they do not follow the program and everything they learned in options.  She said she was confidant that I would do extremely well and she put the referral through.  I was so EXCITED.
