I've always had a love affair with food. For as long as I can remember ice cream & pizza have been my best friends and ultimately my worst enemies. Over the years my love for food has worked against me. My eating got so out of control that @ 26 yrs old, I tipped the scale at 327 pounds. I was fortunate in that I did not have any serious weight related health issues, however, I realized that over time my health would deteriorate if I didn't do something about the weight. You name it, chances are I tried it. Eating right and working out 4-5 days a week...Yup did that for quite some time.  Weightloss drugs and diet programs & working out 4-5 days a week..Yup did that too. All attempts were somewhat successfull. I lost weight each time. The catch is that I couldn't keep it off.

After several attempts at losing the weight on my own, my doctor made me realize that I
NEEDED help.  On August 15, 2006 I had the Lap-Band surgery. I decided to have the band becuase I wanted to feel as if I was actively participating in the weightloss process. I wanted the weight to come off gradually so that I could work out and become toned. The day of the surgery I weighed 327 pounds.  After an extremely frustrating 2 years of band adjustments a military style workouts, I finally made it down to 270 pounds.
The frustration and feelings of failure got the best of me and finally on June 24, 2008 I made the best decision of my life, and has the gastric bypass.  Since then, life has been interesting.  The weight is coming off slowly but consistently. The day of the bypass I was 272, I am now 235. Of course I was terrified that this would be another repeat of my band failure but I now understand that everyone's weightloss experience is different. I'm not the girl that going to lose 70 pounds in 3 months. It's taken a little time but I've accepted it. I've also accepted that this is a battle that I will always have to actively fight. Doing my part determines whether I win or lose.
