Hi, just wanted to pop in and give an update on Angela. I went to the hospital and she is doing really good. Had her swallow test and was just waiting on the okay to have ice chips. She was so ready for them. She was sitting up and even took a lap around the hospital hall. She said that she was sore in the tummy area, but other wise she looks great. Please help me wish her well on her new journey on life. Yvonne

Hello Everyone, Angela flying in here, just wanted to update on Angela Hammett and say that she is on the losing side and that she is doing great. She will get to do her swallow test tomorrow and possibly get to go home on Thanksgiving day. Could you please take a minute and post to her surgery page and welcome her to the "losing side". Love ya, Angela, Yvonne

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).

Hi Angela. Thank you for the well wishes. I'll be thinking about you on the 25th! I read you're profile and I'm sorry that you lost your original date (I'm also terribly sorry for your surgeon), but things seem to be moving along once again and the 25th will be here before you know it (that's what I keep telling myself, anyway *s*). For myself, I am having an open BPD/DS on the 25th of November with Dr. Maguire in Kettering, Ohio. I'm excited, nervous, and scared to death all at the same time. I'm sure you probably feel much the same. But I'm sure we'll both come through our surgeries beautifully and we'll both be so much healthier and happier this same time next year. No regrets, right? I hope you have a wonderful experience and never question that you have made the right decision. Enjoy the journey, I've heard it's a heck of a ride! Hugs, Noelle
