Well after 5 years of research 6 months of program surgery is shceduled for December 5. To give everyone a history I started in the Nashua program with Dr. Jeffrey Brown when they decided to move their practice to a new hospital they informed me in June that the program would be put on hold and hopefully be up and running by the end of the year. Although, I liked Dr. Brown I was determined, I could not wait and located the Obesity Treatment Program run at CMC - Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. I am glod I did not wait for as I have heard, Dr. Brown's program will not start back up due to hospital issues. At OTC I found a very thorough and knowledgeable staff that has helped me through the process and now After meeting a wonderful surgeon, Connie Campbell, I am 4 days away from my life altering event. Reaction from freinds and family have been varied from you don't want to do that to great I am so happy for you. Many comments I get are you aren't that fat, God I hate that one. Yes I wear it well I guess you would say and some even in support group look at you like you should not be there. But after 20 years of being overweight to obese and trying everything from liquid diets and prescribed medications to upwards of 20 hours per week in a gym I am so ready for this. I am just under 5 feet tall weighing 209.5 with a BMI of 41. When people hear 209 they don't realize that 209 on a 5'7" frame is different that 209 on a 5' frame. Either way I have developed degenerative disk disease with associated nerve impingement so getting this excess off is going to help immensly. Talking to others who have had the procedure I hear nothing but success stories unlike those you hear of on TV or in the magazines. Well I will be updating as time goes on, I wish anyone the best of luck if you are in the process and for those who are considering just keep researching it is not for everyone but for many it is our last option.
