Feb 18, 2015
hello people! Approximately ine month after my last post i found myself admitted to the hospital at 29 weeks gestation. My water broke prematurely. I was told i was to remain in the hospital until I give birth hopefully i would last until 34 weeks. Didn't happen! I gave birth at exactly 30 weeks 6 days after I was admitted. My son was born weighing 3lbs 5ozs. After a 6 week stay in the NICU he came home! We have been doing well the last 10 weeks! He has gotten so big! He weighs 12lbs. As for my weightloss its time for me to begin my workout regimine again. I will be honest it is difficult especially because im nursing! But i am determined.
Pregnant!!!
Sep 08, 2014
Almost exactly one year out I found out I was pregnant!!!! That was one of the biggest motivations for my surgery. May 7th I found out I was pregnant.... Surg--versary is May 22. Right now my primary focus is making sure my son and I are getting adequate nutrients... I'm not counting and such...I have been awfully sick. With pregnancy and surgery...so I just want my focus to be on the baby's health
3 Hospitalizations later
Aug 04, 2013
Over the the last month or so I was very very sick. After I hit the 4 week mark I seemed to go in reverse. I had advanced my diet to include solids. And I was able to tolerate them initially. But somewhere along that time my body decided that's not what it wanted to do. I was admitted for the first time on a follow up visit July 2. I had an emergency EGD performed as I ha not been able to eat or hold anything down for about 2 weeks. A slight dilation was performed at the size of 18mm to ensure no area was smaller than that. But anatomically everything looked good with my sleeve. Yet I was not able to hold anything down. I was released a couple days later on July 4th after being given some fluids as I was dehydrated because I had been unable to even hold water down. I was extremely nauseous all the time and vomiting anything I attempted to eat as well as drink. My second hospitalization occurred exactly a week after the first on July 9, 2013 at my follow up to the previous hospitalization. I had still been unable to hold down anything. I was basically living off of sugar free popsicles and ice chips. At this point it was discussed placing a feeding tube down my nose that would end in my intestines bypassing digestive processes in the stomach since feeding by mouth wasn't proving to be successful. The tube was placed while under anesthesia while yet another EGD was performed. Yet after 3 days the tube had not moved to where it should have been. And the most horrible thing happened... I threw up the tube. So literally one end was end my nose and the other coming out of my mouth. after being able to keep down a few liquids I was discharged a week later despite the same symptoms present that were prsented at the time of admission. During these two stays I had numerous tests ran... I had multiple upper GI xrays done, I had a Hyda scan done which is a nuclear medicine test where they test the function of your gall bladder... also had ultrasound of my gall bladder liver kidney pancreas...I also did a barium swallow test with radiology reports... and nothing was found on any of these tests to suggest abnormality.... So four days after that hospitalization I was seen at finally a different hospital's ER. My chief complaint was that I had been feeling numbness in my body since i was given this patch for nausea and I had the patch on for all of 24hrs and removed it yet it had been several days and the numbness had not worn off. Yet I had still been unable to hold anything down. I was admitted after lab test came back and implied I had pancreatitis. After a short stay and treatment..... I was released feeling like a new woman...First off I was seen by 3 different dr's two of which were specialist. Among the three of them they reordered the previous tests done at the other hospital... the barium swallow test revealed my esophagus was spasming not allowing passage to my stomach....hyda scan revealed that the ejection rate of my gall bladder was not functioning correctly, stool sample revealed that I was still positive for H. pylori, I was treated unlike before with a corticosteroid which seem to be the magic trick in restting my digestive function!!!! ow almost two weeks since my release I'm proud to say I'm feeling better than ever! And 72lbs down at 10 weeks out!!!
2 weeks post op
Jun 06, 2013
this week I had some challenges.. I thought I would be up to increasing my activity level and start a workout routine. However I was unable to. My main incision hurt like no other this week. I had not taken pain medicine since 4 days post op but this week i had to have some. It hurt to stand straight to sit.... any movement of my abdomen on my right side was horrible. Today is Thursday and I'm 2weeks and a day. I feel ok. Im not really eating. My focus has been on keeping hydrated AS i LIVE IN THE DESERT of El Paso. My surgeon told me to make sure I stay hydrated if nothing else so that has been my main focus.
Surgey Complete- Post op
May 26, 2013
So i showed up to my rescheduled date of Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 5:30 am and everything was successful. I have been successfully sleeved. I am now 4 days post op and on my way to a new life. My worse night was day 1 post op. My surgery team had tried to get me to go home yet I was leary so the chief resident made the call for me to stay another night and boy was I glad I did. I HAD NOT BEEN IN MUCH PAIN PRIOR BUT ON THIS PARTICULAR NIGHT i WOKE UP IN TEARS. But i was given my liquid pain meds as I had tolerated clear liquids and was advanced to full liquids. And all was well. Same day of surgery I was able to urinate. I didn't pass gas until day 3 post op. And today was the big one!!! I was actually able to use the restroom! Without the aid of a stool softener or prune juice or anything. Post op day 3 was also the day I was able to take in the most water and fluids. Today I tried some jello cups bc the ones I was given in the hospital actually hurt a little bit. I made a carnation Instant Breakfast today and added some unflavored protein and that's been tolerated well. I also found previous to surgery some frozen yogurt bars and I was able to tolerate one of those today as well. Not too much in to form of exercise just yet but I am looking forward to it. My post op appointment is scheduled for 3 weeks out so I plan to keep you all posted.
Surgery postponed
May 26, 2013
So I went and checked in on Monday May 20, 2013 at 8am. They had me me do blood work and an urinalysis test. Well wouldn't you know I had a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). After going down to the OR and getting pushed the first set of anesthetic to help you relax, The chief resident of surgery comes back in and delivers the bad news. My surgeon said no. He will not operate with an existing infection for this "elective" procedure because it puts me at greater risks to develop other infections related to surgery. OMG I was furious! I had been waiting there all day because I was the third case. no food or drink since midnight and here it is afternoon. SIGH I understood it was for my own good but it still left me feeling broken. I toiled with the idea of even continuing through with the surgery. They rescheduled me for Wednesday May 22, 2013 and sent me home with an antibiotic to clear up the UTI prior to surgery. I deleted myself from all my support groups on FB. I was just so broken. I had been successful thus far with my pre-op diet and reasoned maybe I will just continue doing what I am doing as far as a diet is concerned and incorporate exercise and try it again on my own. But thank God for friends! My best friend talked to me and encouraged me to show up for the rescheduled appointment. She helped me see what I was going to reap from the whole ordeal. So after my convo with her I decided to continue my journey.
Pre-op diet
May 17, 2013
So I received my surgery date at my last appt. It is scheduled for may 20. I have been on a pre-op diet since May 6. My diet isn't majorly strict. It is no more than 1000 calories per day and at least 60 grams of protein a day! I'm rocking this diet! lol Since may 6 i have lost 11 lbs as of two days ago from just pre-op diet. I'm a little nervous about Monday! But I've come too far to turn back now!

As you all know I began this WLS process a few years ago. It never happened for me bc of a "lack of family support." So I have recently graduated college and my husband and I are in the same place so I began a new WLS journey. I had my psych eval on April 11. I have my preop appt scheduled for April 30 and looking to have a surgery date in May!!!! I am super excited!!! I will keep you all posted! As for now I should be recieving a surgery date when I go for my pre-op!
