Well Thanksgiving has passed and I only gained 2.5 pounds, then lost 1.5
so I guess it could have been worse. Overall I did well.
Attended WLS group in Middletown last night...which was pretty helpful.
Some people there lost over 250 pounds....simply amazing.
Not much else new. I hope all is well with everyone else.

Went for the Gallbladder and Liver Ultrasound today.
Everything was fine as far as I know. Weight was 365...so some progress
is being made using my diet I guess. Still waiting for that Magic Pill to be
invented that will allow me to lose 100 pounds in a week and still eat whatever I want. But I guess I'll have a little bit of a wait on that one !!
Seeing my PCP tomorrow....I'll update if anything is new.

I went to my first Dietary visit this morning. Weighed in at 379 with clothes and shoes on...so I'm down a pound, LOL. The visit went well, lets just say I have a LOT of changes to make in my diet and exercise activity. I was put on a 1700 calorie diet and need to be seen in 3 weeks for the next visit. This makes me wonder if I will be mourning food like someone would mourn a loved one that has passed away??  I guess only time will tell.
Mary Sue, the Dietician, was really nice and gave me some good suggestions.
The only thing that caught me by surprise was on my way out when they decided to tell me that I owe them $132 for the visit,  because my Insurance "doesn't cover nutritional counseling for Obesity".... it would have been REALLY nice if they told me ahead of time, ya know??  I emailed HealthNet to double check, but whatever...The follow-up visits will be $66 each which is more reasonable.
That's it for now folks.

Doing OK today. Still researching both WLS procedures and have been successful networking with lots of awesome people on OH so far (Thanks guys !!). I am amazed by some of their progress over just a year or two. What a difference. The women are beautiful and the men look great too (No I'm not gay...sorry), but honestly everyone is looking really good.
Total transformations. It gives me a lot of hope and the motivation
I need to keep me going. Everyone deserves a lot of credit for the process they have made thusfar.

I'm going to see the dietician for my first visit tomorrow....I am happy and sad at the same time because I obviously know she will make changes to my diet and overall eating style, but I know this is best for me and I need to follow what they suggest....and I will.

10/16/07 - 11/07/07

Nov 09, 2007

10/16/07 - Attended the info session at Middlesex Hospital.
It was LONG but very informative. Went alone...wife had to work and
Mom watched the kids.
The hospital should really think about getting some bigger chairs for the
meeting room. It was very uncomfortable.
Anyway, I scheduled my eval with the surgeon.

11/5/07-  Attended the nutrition and psych info sessions today. Went alone again. Got some hand outs. It was informative, but not personalized enough for me. Anyway, the dietician and psychologist seem nice.

11/7/07 - I saw Dr. Aranow today for an eval. Weighed in at 380.5 pounds !!
Over the past 10 years the highest I've been was around 405, lowest has been 295.  Anyway, He feels I would do well with RNY or Lap Band. He did say I will lose 30 or 40 pounds  less with Lap Band, but would still do OK if I do my part as far as diet and exercise goes.
He gave me the normal checklist, but luckily I don't need a stress test,
pulmonary test or sleep apnea study done. My Psych eval is not until
the end of December, so that kinda sucks because I wanted to get the ball rolling a little quicker. I meet with the dietician next week.
