One month until I have my surgery! I am so nervous, scared, excited…well I guess I could just say emotional. I have been overweight my entire life. I have never been thin. I have never let my weight really hold me back until recently. It has really been a journey! I started my weight loss journey in 2006. It was after my father passed away from obesity related complications at the age of 50 that I realized that I really need help with my weight. I have done all of the diets you can think of, Weight watchers multiple times. In 2006 I meet with Dr. Singh and he said that he would operate on me. My insurance denied me because I didn’t have and co-morbilites. I went on to get married in October of 2006 to my wonderful husband. I then switched insurances to his and tried again in 2007. I was denied again because I needed a recent 6 month medically supervised diet. I got really frustrated and kind of gave up, continued to yo-yo diet. I was having really bad knee pain, and it turns out that because of my size the cartilage in my knees began to deteriorate. Then in March of 2008 I found out that I had Type 2 Diabetes, and High Blood pressure. My Dr. urged me to try again for the surgery, and we started a new 6 month diet. I am finally approved and will have surgery on Jan 28 th.
