I guess this would be a WOW type of day.

For the first time in our small town's christmas parade/festival history, we had a 5 K run/walk.  I decided a couple weeks ago I wanted to enter it.  Well I waited till about 15 minutes before the run/walk started because my back had been hurting but I figured all I could do was try and seen what happens.  I did not complete the whole 5 k Walk.  I made it to the 1/2 mile point which met I walked a mile at a fast pace.  Yea I did breathe a little heavy but hell I could still talk and walk at the same time.  It had been YEARS since I've done anything close to that, like 15 + years ago.  It's finally kicking it that I am not having that feeling of "what the hell did I do to myself" that I had after surgery.  I am actually feeling good about walking out in public and not having people stare at me because I am out of breath from walking.

Well it's been a long road but it's getting better each day :)

Well I postponed my surgery for a month and had it on September 24th.  We had a month of total chaos before my gastric bypass surgery.  Our wedding was September 12th, the Sunday nite/Monday before our wedding, my husband had a heart attack.  He is doing fine and he is toughest man I know.  He got out of the hospital the day before the wedding.  He wanted out sooner but he stayed.  2 weeks later I had the roux-en-y gastric bypass.  I had it done at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Indiana and my surgeon is/was Dr. Rosemarie Jones.  I was blessed and did well, even though didn't really get to sleep alot....or at least to me I didn't..lol  But hey the walking every 2 hours gets you into the habit of walking.  My husband refused to leave my side, he was there every minute.  I got to come home the next day.  It's been strange at times because one day something you try tastes so good and then you can't stand it.  My clothes are starting to become alot looser.:)  I haven't had any pain at all in my knees since losing what weight i've had lost which is about 50 lbs.  I can actually walk at a quick pace and not be out of breath.  This weekend I am going to try and walk a 5 k walk/race.  Maybe in a year or 2 maybe I will try the run part.  Who knows what the future holds,  but I know I am so thankful for my new chance at life and my awesome husband.

Well finally got approved

Aug 21, 2009

Well I finally got approved for gastric bypass surgery after trying for about 5-6 years.  I had checked my insurance website one morning and it said I was approved. About a week later my surgeon's scheduler called and I set up the surgery for August 27.  Long story short my iron was little low, so instead of going into this with slightly low iron, decided to postpone for a month and build my iron back up.  UGH!!  But at least I know I am finally approved and will be getting this done.
