San Javier Marina Hospital

"I would rank this hospital very high, it was clean, equiped and staffed not to mention beautiful. While I couldn't eat while I was there my husband said the food was very good. The hospital bed was typical, but the little pull out couch thing my husband slept on was fairly comfortable he said and there was also a recliner. I would not hesitate to go back to this hospital at all!"

Armando Joya

"My whole experience was AMAZING, never once have I doubted my decision to go to Dr. Joya for my RNY. In the US you have your doctor visit you while in the hospital, in Puerto Vallarta there were at least 3 if not 5 doctors that came in every day to check on me. They were all so kind and caring, not the little 30 second visits like you get in the US because your doc is to busy for you right then. The nurses were so good, most of them spoke enough english to get by, and besides, I can't fault their english skills because my spanish skills are non-existant. But there was never a time that there was a communication problem we couldn't overcome. The hospital was soooo clean, and the housekeeping staff were always very nice as well...one lady saw me walking without slippers(my feet were hot) and the next thing I know she is helping me slide slippers on my feet. Natalie is just a ball of enegery, she is so knowledgable and helpful, she has a way of making you feel like you have known her forever. The risks and benifits of the surgery were gone over, and never did I feel pressured or hurried to get the paperwork done. The aftercare is given to you in written form, and I will follow with my PCP this first year, but my husband and I were talking about how nice it would be to take a cruise in a year and do my 1 year followup with Dr. Joya. DO NOT let Mexico scare you, I got much better care in Mexico that I would have gotten in the US, and as a RN it is almost embaressing to say that, as a paitent in Mexico it was amazing, comforting and exciting.
