3-9-2010, 1 week post-op

Mar 09, 2010

Today I am 1 week post-op. For the most part I think I am doing well. I am still in a lot of pain on my right side of my abdomen, where my port is. I called the doc today and was told by his nurse that this was completely normal. Because the port is attached to the abdominal wall, any kind of movement may make it feel like something is "tugging", but it will get better.
I am on the second week of liquids, and just starting today, I do feel some hunger. I was told that would happen when the swelling started going down. I have done real well with the liquids, no N/V, reflux or pain. Oh, but I can't wait to start mushies in 1 week (or maybe in 5 days ).
I have lost 5.2 lbs this, which I am very happy with! I have already started going through my old uniforms that I have not been able to wear in years, in the anticipation of being able to wear them again! I will soon be able to throw my 3x uniforms away for good!!!
BTW, my daughter Kristina lost 4.8 lbs this week(no band)....Yah Kristina!!

3-2-10,Morning of Surgery

Mar 01, 2010

OK, so today is the day!! Needless to say I am excited, but also nervous!! After all it is surgery. My mom came in to stay a few days with me, and my daughter and husband will also be at the hospital. My surgery is at 12:00. I will have to stay one night. Right now I am STARVING! I was on clear liquids all day yesterday and had to take a bowel prep. That was not too pleasant, but I survived. I will have to be on a 2 week liquid diet after surgery, but hopefully I won't be too hungry. I have lost 13 lbs on my pre-op diet and a total of 18 lbs since my journey began.
I will try and post again when I get home tomorrow.

I have 2 and 1/2 days until my lap-band surgery. I am getting very nervous. I didn't sleep well last night, and I probably won't for a while. I am on a 2 week modified liquid diet. I can have a protein shake for breakfast and lunch, and a "Lean Cuisine" type meal for dinner. That's it! Oh, and of course 64 oz of fluids a day. I am so hungry I could eat off my fingers!!...LOL. Oh well, I've lost 11 lbs and I'm looking forward to losing a lot more!
My 15 year old daughter Kristina is also trying to follow along with me. She, too, is obese and we are doing this together. She is my biggest supporter and I am blessed to have her as my daughter! It's because of me that she is overweight and I have to make it up to her!! Our goal is to lose this weight and get us a "tramp stamp"...Yeah right, I just want to get us healthy!! I hope to post some pics of her and I shortly.
I will try and post again before surgery.
