"Dr. Rittersbach is excellent. He is a very fast talker, but very thorough and informative. He is also friendly - patient wise. My wife asked the nurses if they liked Dr. Rittersbach or another specific doctor who will go unamed, and they said the other doctor - Dr. Rittersbach did not joke around with them, he was all about business. This "negative" comment made me like him all the much more, showing his professionalism. I had a few setbacks that kept me in the hospital a quite a bit longer than either of us anticipated, but he was there all the way and called in other doctors for their point of view as well. One of the things that I really appreciated in the hospital was his punctuality - he was there bright and early, before breakfast to make rounds - you didn't have to wonder when he was going to come around like I've experienced in the past with other doctors myself and with family.
Another really good bonus is his assistant in the office, Michelle. She is absolutely fabulous. Whatever I needed or asked for, she handled, immediately. Notes for work...no waiting. Filled out immediately and faxed right away. Tremendous office service - can't say enough good.

"I had RNY at Martin Memorial South. I started out in a regular room, but had issues with my O2 sats and the nurses did the right thing and transferred me to the ICU. The ICU nurses were the best I've ever dealt with, one in particular Ambre that worked nights. Explained everything, extremely thorough and extremely compassionate. The hospital allowed my wife to stay all night at times and this really helped me relax as I was pretty anxious.
I had to go for a CT scan post op, and was given a ton of contrast to drink. When I got to radiology I told them and they said - "You're a bypass patient, they should have never had you drink that much."
When I was finally stepped back down to a regular room, the nurses were so-so, and the MA was really kind of bad, but you can't judge them all by the two I had. The hospital is fairly small but overall it was a good experience even though I had a bad experience with the surgery complications - luck of the draw I guess."
