I can remember being large ever since my mother took me to the "Huskies" department at Sears when I was 10 years old.  What a memory!  I look back now at my high school pictures and think, "You were large but you weren't as large as you thought you were.".  I started this process at 300 lbs. back in September 2007.  That was it!  I researched RNY surgery for the past three years and even attended a Bariatric seminar with my husband.  At the time, we were not impressed with the speakers who had already had the surgery.  It was as thought they were saying "It's OK to cheat."  Things they say you can't eat - you can eat.  If I was going to go "under the knife" I wasn't interested in cheating.  Plus, my husband's opinion mattered to me alot and he was nervous about me having the surgery.  His opinion still matters to me.  We both agreed another try at Weight Watchers (3rd time) wouldn't hurt.  I lost 52 pounds this third attempt and then turned around and gained it all back.  I wish I could completely explain why but I can't.  It was as though the additional 100 pounds seemed too far away.  Anyway, after I gained it all back plus more (as usual) I began researching the RNY-lap again.  I researched for a year or more before I decided to go to Dr. Kim (plus my PCP-Dr. James Bohnsack said he would highly recommend Dr. Kim and that meant alot to me because I respect him.) The process began and my husband and I went to another seminar.  Wow!  That was like a total difference of night and day.  It was wonderful!  A support group of mostly RNY patients came in at the end of the seminar and spoke.  It was much more real, much more serious, and no one talked about cheating "the system".  That's the only way I know how to describe it.  Both Lloyd and myself were accepting of the whole process and Lloyd told me he would support me no matter what I decided.  That's when the ball began rolling!
