I have been a juvenile diabetic since I was 10; that makes me having the disease for almost 43 years. As the result of a lifetime of insulin, I gained 100 pounds that was impossible to lose. In addition, I had a hysterectomy at 25 years, which also caused havoc on my weight. Last year I decided that was enough!!! I started the process for WLS, and had the RNY on July 2, 2007. I lost 40 pounds very quickly; however, I am at a standstill. The main reason why I had the surgery was for my health, and I am definitely reaping the benefits!! I have cut my insulin requirements down two-thirds; my blood pressure is below normal; and, I have the energy of a pack mule. I am so glad I did this, I just wich I could lose my last 30 pounds, it's killing me!!
