Hello my name is Bridget. I've been overweight since I was about 9 or 10. Till this day I remember the first time when i was 13 when my dad and step-mom were on my case about my weight and they never stopped. Actually i think they were on a mission to make my life misserable.
I tried all the fad diets, pills, even eating one meal a day to lose weight, and everything else out there to lose weight. It would work for like 20 to 30lbs then come right back on.
So I heard about gastric bypass surgery in 2005 and figured that I would go down that route. I went through all the pre-op and was denied by the insurance. I had crappy insurance back then since I worked for a small company. Actually i'm still paying on a bill I owe from back then.
Now that i'm getting older I decided I needed to do something about my weight. I have high blood pressure now & sleep apnea. Actually my dad is in bad shape to he had a triple bypass & has diabetes. So I decided to call my insurance and see what they can do for me and my weight loss. I talked to this really nice lady and she said I should qualify for the gastric bypass and my insurance covers it. She recently had it and even recommend her surgeon.
Well I went through everything and got approved. I just recently had my surgery on October 4,2011. Actually I look at that date as a start of my new life. So i'm on this journey of recovering and just looking for some friends to talk to and share our experiences.
