I am a 38 year old female and I have been overweight all my life. I remember as young as the age of 11 having to shop for the "pretty plus" sizes because regular clothes just didn't fit. I have tried so many different diets to no avail. I have a 15 year old son who is very energetic and athletic. I would love to be able to play catch with him or shoot a few baskets with him, but I get winded so quickly and lets not even talk about the fact that I can give a round of applause without using my hands! The clapping sound that my skin makes when I jog or jump up & down is totally embarrassing to me! Over the years I have found it harder and harder to perform even the smallest of tasks. Just putting on my shoes & socks requires me to sit on the edge of the bed with my foot propped up on the bed. I can't walk a flight of stairs without feeling like I am having a heartattack. The list just goes on and on. I just want to be healthy and I just want to have some of my mobility back!

When my Doctor told me 2 years ago "at the rate you are going you will not see your son graduate from high school" because of my high blood pressure, I knew that I had to do something to lose the excess weight. I got online and researched bariatric surgery and I came accross the ObesityHelp website and I was convinced that it was for me!
I am 2 years out and I feel wonderful. I have lost 164 pounds!!!!!! I was so excited when I could cross my legs and when I cold shop on the regular side of the store!!! I started out wearing size 30/32 (uncomfortabley) and now I wear a size 12! Wow! I haven't worn a size 12 since my freshmen year in High School (over 25 years ago). I feel that my journey is not over, as I have about 10 more pounds I would like to lose, but has been a wonderful ride. Having bariatric surgery was the best decision I could have ever made for my life.
My son is now 17 years old and he will be graduating from High School in May!! I have no high blood pressure and I take only a mutivitamin twice a day!!! I thank GOD every day for this new life I have been given!
